Thai caption: Immigration Region 6 announce latest on bribery audio clip

Region 6 of the immigration police in the south of Thailand held a press conference after a damning audio clip appeared on an anti-corruption site called "Strong".

The clip featured the sound of a man or men from Region 6 immigration who were demanding a 1,000 baht "monthly payment" from a migrant worker.

An officer mentioned in the clip who was transferred out of the unit denied he was the one uttering the words and could prove it.

Spokesman Pol Col Phairat Phukcharoen said that consequently 30 officers in Region 6 were now having their voices recorded saying the words in the clip.

These would be forensically analysed to get to the culprit.

Phairat was unable to say who recorded the clip or how it came into the public domain and the identity of the migrant worker is also unknown, reported Manager

Phairat said that if possible they would like to talk to the migrant saying that the person would be quite safe in their hands.

That comment should be placed in a plastic bag and posted in the jokes forum.

Jez, come on, they're all culprits. Theyd need a "bik cleaning day" at that department.

If all of the lazy/sleeping/bent cops and immigration officer news items could be moved to their own, far and distant, forum it really would improve the readability of this forum.

I knew of an IO who drove my 70year+ friend to the ATM and stole 10,000 baht of him my friend was to frightened to complain the IO then took him to the Ferry to get the boat back to KP . The same IO tried to get 4,000 baht of me for a visa that costs 1,900 baht when I argued with him about it he realised he wasn’t going to get it and apologised thankfully he is no longer there I presume he got retired .It’s time that the head of IO issued orders that all payments made for visa’s ,letters or photocopying should be recorded by giving a copy of a receipt by not doing so makes false accounting so easy

Agreed, they don't 30%-40% of auctioned confiscations like another force.

They have to get their bonus cut another way.

They'd be nobody left to process visas and the piles of paper work.

But you don't have to read it.

Just find whos driving a suped up Honda Wave with a little horn on it.

It all trickles down - the cycles of corrupted and unethical life.

Buriram IO charge, I forget how much now, the employers of migrant workers to do their TM47's. They also charge the person who does a report for a farang. If I recall correctly it's 100 Baht per person.

Didn't "Big Joke" try that when he was in the job?

Look what happened to him.
