Sanook reported that general manager of an arm of Zuellig Pharma Ltd in Thailand Sunaina Kitketphaisan revealed that the Thai Food and Drug Administration had granted permission for the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to be used on children aged 12-17.

They can be given two shots like adults 28 days apart.

The news means that Thailand will have an extra vaccine to use in schools.

Earlier it was announced that plans are afoot to jab 4.3 million 12-18 year olds in schools starting early next month.

This will depend on parental permission being obtained and names being prepared in what remains of September.

In this age group  one dose of Pfizer gives 97% protection (UK Govt research). It is the 2nd dose of Pfizer that affects male youths with a rare side-effect of heart inflammation. Could the 2nd dose of Pfizer (and Moderna?) be used to much better affect elsewhere in the population? I don't know if the same is for Moderna as it is also a mRNA vaccine.
