Popular Post snoop1130
Photo by Jack TAYLOR / AFP Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has not yet made a decision on the reopening of Bangkok to fully vaccinated and COVID-19 negative international arrivals by October 15th, but mandatory quarantine will remain in place for visitors or returnees to the city, according to the CCSA today (Friday). A proposal to reopen Thailand’s capital from October 15th, by the Tourism and Sports Ministry, has been submitted to a CCSA subcommittee, but any decision is pending discussions with the Ministry of Public Health and other relevant agencies, said CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan. “This does not mean that we can’t proceed with the plans amid ongoing infections, but the public health system must be ready first, similar to the process for the ‘Phuket Sandbox’, for which the operations have been excellent. Doing a ‘sandbox’ scheme anywhere must be done carefully,” said Dr. Apisamai, who pointed to the large size and diversity of the capital. Popular Post cclub75
Here we go.... It's reopening... without reopening. We had quarantine before (14 days).... We will have quarantine after the "reopening"... If we are lucky... 7 days... In any case, it won't change anything. Tourists (real) won't come. The high season is... dead. I'm wondering how many millions destitute people they need, with all the associated social and political problems.... to understand that their way of thinking is a total deadend ? We can live with Covid. The grotesque terror has to stop. Protect the real virus targets (old and fragile people) with vaccines... And let the vast majority of the population, not concerned by this virus, FREE and let them live normally. 44 3

Where else do they have forced isolation in specially constructed slums for COVID patients, I'm referring to the COVID prisons of course. China did this from day 1, Thailand copied. I just wonder who gave the order, I suspect it came from China.

Popular Post Farangdk
Come on Thailand.. People must adapt to this Chinese virus. People need to learn to live with this virus. The virus will be around for a long time, maybe forever. Open Thailand now. People need to start making money and get some food on the table, start to have a life, many lost their homes and living on the streets. There is only one way for Thailand and that is to open Thailand. Bring in the tourists/ people who have already been vaccinated and without any quarantine. Get more and more Thais vaccinated in a hurry and test all the time and lot more. Right now, it is a joke and Thailand is more or less falling apart. And Thailand, please stop all your Mickey Mouse laws and regulations regarding expats and tourists. 12 1

There are so many people in government like a box of chocolate each morning you don't know who you are going to get? What we do know is more hot air out of these guys who haven't felt any of the pain their own population has felt. Popular Post sucit
They need to just reopen. Very easy decision. You are facing virus concerns with or without people incoming from abroad. The country is already infested with covid. 5
Popular Post khunjeff
"Chiang Mai, Chon Buri (Pattaya), Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin) and Phetchaburi are set to reopen on October 1st, pending CCSA’s approval." So that's 12 days away, and the CCSA hasn't even considered it yet? And therefore no one knows what the rules will be, such as how people would get to Chiang Mai in the absence of international flights. Exactly when do they think would be a good time to start thinking about this?
Popular Post raccos21
Firstly, they should have vaccinated 80% of all the citizens before they plan to reopen the country. Also, before they open it to the world, they should open the country to locals to see whether it has gone back to normal. Besides, even if they open it now, who's gonna come? Because many other countries are still struggling with the pandemic.
shackleton
Why don't the Government put their hands up and just say until all have received the vaccine Bangkok and the Concerned Provinces will remain closed until year end to outside Country Tourists People then know what to plan for including people outside Thailand Get rid of the paperwork and Quarantine measures for arrivals in The Kingdom for starters

BadSpottedDog
Try to get the touted, monaclonal antibody infusions (one is Regeneron), to treat the infected, and this whole mess will be so much better. Recovered patients will then have natural antibodies. The US govt is now distributing it to all states, since vaccinated people are still getting very sick. The standard procedures are not working. Ventilators do a lot of damage.https://combatcovid.hhs.gov/i-have-covid-19-now/monoclonal-antibodies-high-risk-covid-19-positive-patients

Bkktodd
Everybody here is an expert so it seems ….most posters already in Thailand are saying keep it closed. Gracious of you. Donate your pension checks to the starving Thais we so dearly love. Whilst you enjoy your cheap beer maybe consider that the government will decide whatever… not you or I . A reduced quarantine, or status quo..but definitely vaccinated only. Protect the arrivals from the already infected locals should be a concern.
Popular Post charmonman
Why are they so afraid of fully vaccinated people when the majority of people currently in Thailand are walking around unvaccinated or partially vaccinated? Do they really think that as soon as they announce a new no quarantine policy that they will immediately have millions of tourists flooding in, especially with all the restrictions in place? These people clearly have no ability to think things through.

If vaccinating 80% of the population is a necessary condition for opening what is the harm in letting a group of people who are 100% vaccinated? Obviously they should make the unvaccinated do a quarantine just as they have been doing for the past year but if you are saying fully vaccinated people need to be quarantined as well are you not in effect saying that vaccinating people is pointless? Fully vaccinated people are not the problem. Let them in - without quarantine. 5

The new variants such as Delta do not simply target the very old and fragile , that is the flaw in your argument. There will be no complete ' opening up ' until 60-70 % of the population as a whole are fully vaccinated. That im afraid is still a number of months down the line , perhaps if we are lucky early next year.
