Thailand on Friday (September 24) reported 12,697 new COVID-19 cases, 13,540 recoveries and 132 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

◼︎ 13,540 recoveries

◼︎ 12,527 new infections

◼︎ 170 prison / prison infections

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,508,447

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,336,476

Friday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,537,310 with 16,016 deaths.

The news comes as Thailand's disease control committee has proposed a halving of a two-week hotel isolation requirement for vaccinated arrivals, amid delays in plans to waive quarantine and reopen Bangkok and tourist destinations from next month.

Thailand is keen to welcome back foreign visitors, after nearly 18 months of strict entry policies caused a collapse in tourism, a key sector that drew 40 million visitors in 2019.

"Reducing the quarantine is not only about tourism, but will help business travel and foreign students," senior health official Opas Karnkawinpong told a news conference, adding tests would also be required.

Seems to have hit a plateau with testing, what testing you may ask yourselves, well the testing of only walk-ins and those close contacts.  Also hitting a plateau of daily cases as well it appears.  Phuket is still stuck in the 200+ cases a day issue, but what are the true cases using ATK test kits not only in Phuket but nationwide?.  Halving quarantine to restart tourism is a ridiculous item in my book. If they are double vaccinated and test negative on arrival they should be free to venture around much like us double vaccinated folks here in the country.

On another note there seems to be another issue playing out with travel to not only Phuket new rules start October 1st, but those going back to the UK from Thailand for a visit and were double vaccinated with AZ here in Thailand.  Crazy in my book, but others seem to think the Thai version is not the same even if it originated from the UK or such.

The GF was finally vaccinated yesterday, only minor side effects last night, but all good today, other than the sore arm.

Stay safe and keep yourselves and families aware of the changes occurring daily.

Today is the day they are scheduled to do 1 million jabs, wonder if they will make it.  If they can I hope they were full intermuscular vaccinations and not the new under the skin jabs to save on vaccines.  I still can not find anywhere else that the under the skin vaccination has been done or even studied.  Sounds to me they will be doing it like one would get a TB test done, where the bubble under the skin is given....

Of the 12,516 cases in the general Thai population, the highest numbers were 2,239 in Bangkok followed by 897 in Chonburi, 758 in Samut Prakan, 675 in Yala, 556 in Rayong, 555 in Songkhla, 439 in Narathiwat and 365 in Ratchaburi.

Today there were 132 deaths in #Thailand 69 males & 63 females Burmese (2), French (1), British (1), India (1), Lao (1) Age range is 30-99 years 64% of deaths aged 60+ Most deaths in Bangkok (31)

Yes I thought there'd  be some sort of fanfare event for this going on, not seen anything published today about it yet, perhaps it will be a photo op later with the millionth person being jabbed?

No wonder today was the push day for 1 million vaccine jabs. It was done to honor Prince Mahidol. Hope it works out.

This is the second day running that low Prison infections have been published.

28 Yesterday and 170 today.

Seems a tad weird after many Days with rising cases , and the number was near to 700 previously.

Creative accounting me thinks.

Sounds promising if the field hospitals are not needed. A question I have is how many bubble and sealed factories and businesses are there, and how many folks are still sealed in.?

And of course not to forget the Prisons

Looking at today's Mor Phrom app I see almost 1 million have received a booster vaccination so far.

Just found this article posted in another thread advising against this method:

The manufacturers advise that the vaccine should not be injected intravascularly, subcutaneously or intradermally. Injecting a vaccine into the layer of subcutaneous fat with poor vascularity resulting in slow mobilisation and processing of antigen leading to vaccine failure.  The antigen may take longer to reach the circulation after being deposited in fat, delaying presentation to T and B cells that are essential for immune response. In addition, there is a risk that the antigens may be denatured by enzymes if they remain subcutaneously for prolonged period. Subcutaneous injections can lead to localised cellulitis, granuloma formation and abscess.

The COVID-19 vaccine has shown to have high efficacy if given correctly intramuscularly.   Subcutaneous injection can happen inadvertently, affecting efficacy of vaccination and potentiate local adverse events.   It is vital importance to reinforce intramuscular injection training with competency assessment at intervals in order to maximise efficacy and maintain public confidence.

Video of the chaos in the tweet, awful scenes:

So many people turned up at Kantang Hospital in Trang today to get vaccinated that they had to call the police to help hand out queue numbers. Today is Mahidol Day and health officials planned to vaccinate one million people today to honour the Father of Modern Medicine #Thailand

I saw that and another similar one two days ago and posted it back then as well.  I think it is very foolish to undertake a vaccination which goes against the normal everyday procedures.  I truly believe they are setting themselves up for problems such as the body not uptaking the vaccine from the dermal layer and it causing problems to the individuals. This could cause the following problems for folks:

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17523-superficial-thrombophlebitis

Here is the link I posted before:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1118997/

vaccines should be given via the intramuscular route into the deltoid or the anterolateral aspect of the thigh. This optimises the immunogenicity of the vaccine and minimises adverse reactions at the injection site. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of administering vaccines correctly.13 Clinical practice needs to reflect considerations about the right length and gauge of needles used to ensure that those vaccinated get the immunological benefit of the vaccines without local side effects.

Injecting a vaccine into the layer of subcutaneous fat, where poor vascularity may result in slow mobilisation and processing of antigen, is a cause of vaccine failure1—for example in hepatitis B,2 rabies, and influenza vaccines.3 Compared with intramuscular administration, subcutaneous injection of hepatitis B vaccine leads to significantly lower seroconversion rates and more rapid decay of antibody response.
