Dhanin Chearavanont is a Thai citizen but with Chinese ancestry so are many Thai pm like Thaksin.

Around 15-20% of Thai citizens have Chinese ancestry so what's so strange about this?

Yes, and amongst the Thai upper-class that percentage is much, much higher.

Yep. It just is - as it is throughout much of Asia. The Chinese have a history of getting around.

Many would like to twist this into some broad political conspiratorial thing.

I'm perplexed as to why.

You're right, his ethnicity makes no difference. But if you're buying stuff in Thailand, the fact one company dominates sales to such an extent, means that prices are higher than they ought to be were the business environment more competitive. And for people who live here, that means more money is coming out of their pockets than would otherwise be the case.

You've got a point
Hopefully, Lazada and the rest can expand their product range to serve as better alternatives ..
Though what happened in China is that the online shops ended up being so competitive that the "mom n pop" shops (small stand alone retail businesses) had to close and malls ended up mostly only selling food ..

What the Chinese in Thailand do is to buy from Taobao (the parent of Lazada) and other online shops in China and have the items couriered over to Thailand ..
They do it not only for the price but cos there is a far wider product range  (can be 30x more)  with many of better quality (provided one shops by looking at buyer's reviews ) n design than those at the shops in Thailand..
eg if you were looking to buy a power bank for a phone, you can  buy a much nicer 20,000 mah one with the latest safety features for the price of a 5000 - 10,000 mah one selling in Thailand ..

Presently, there are 200 - 300k Chinese residing in Thailand, they are mostly nice people (no different from Thai Chinese) if one makes an effort to understand them. .
Am sure most will be willing to help others procure stuff as its just a matter of putting items into the online shopping cart after the shopper had finished browsing  ..

Maybe you can construe those sentiments in the Bible,. Maybe. but what you wrote certainly doesn't merit quotation marks.

You may be right but in free societies, there is something called "freedom of expression" right  ..  ha

highest levels of  income inequality in Asia.  Monopolists like Dhanin aren't helping.

Such income inequality is not only in Asia. Why the Asia should be very different from other countries with monopolists billionaires?
