Jonathan Fairfield
Two young male suspects were caught on CCTV at a Banglamung temple earlier this week appearing to show respect to religious statues by performing wais before trying to steal money inside a donation box at the temple overnight. Phra Kru Samu Yongyut Kemtaroe, 84, the abbot of the Nong Yai Temple, told The Pattaya News, “Early Wednesday morning, October 20th, we heard one of our temple dogs furiously barking which awakened me and some other monks. However, we could not immediately figure out what had disturbed the dogs after walking around the temple. We reviewed our CCTV footage and found it appeared to show two thieves paying religious respect to a sacred statue and then, ironically, trying to steal money inside donation boxes nearby.” Full story: https://thepattayanews.com/2021/10/23/two-young-male-suspects-attempt-to-steal-temple-donation-boxes-in-pattaya-area-after-being-caught-on-cctv-giving-respect-to-religious-statues-beforehand/ -- © Copyright The Pattaya News 2021-10-24 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

ThailandRyan
Looks like praying to be a thief that does not get caught and apologizing before hand does not work to well. Tools, but then TIT.

No different than any other religion. My dad was a clergyman and raids on donation boxes, fingers deftly withdrawing money from the collection basket rather than depositing and inventive sob stories were the norm, rather than the exception. No society is immune from self-justified larceny.

And they probably have quite some money/properties stashed away that no one knows about.

rwill
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me. Emo Philips
