There are calls to delay the opening to December.

How things only can go south more... There is quite a few location specific tourists, can imagine how frustrating it would be if you planned everything in Chiang Mai or another town, to then hear they close down again or delay reopening.

 

To also keep in mind most countries had another infection wave after being done vaccinating most people, so we could still get that one here too. Is gonna be a rollercoaster ride the next months.

With over 400 cases a day it would be a logical decision. Sorry I forgot that logic is not a consideration. I live in Phayao province and a local nightclub in Muang Phayao employed a DJ from Bangkok. Surprise surprise he was positive to Covid. Now we are in the <deleted>

It's not that foreigners would pose a danger. Rather, it's the relaxation of rules in a population that still has low levels of vaccination.

The prime reasons why surges/spike come about is a portion of the respected populations that aren't practicing/observing protocol measures. 

A very simple understanding that many the world over aren't getting -

vaxxed or not, the virus is in the air and can go up anyone's nose... then it can be spread to others.

 

being vaxxed means if it does go up your nose, you will be fairly well protected...

One would assume Chiang Mai/Hua Hin and any other province will elect to do the same.

The subject of this thread is about delaying the reopening of CM on Nov 1. Obviously (but not obvious enough for some apparently) this is about reopening to foreign arrivals, because it is already open for domestic.

Id imagine the only people going to Thailand these days are going to collect their belongings and move out permanently. That place is finished.

I gather the idea is to move the girls into the factories building parts for electric vehicles.

As part of the opening curfew rules will be relaxed in Chiang Mai. So it's not just about letting in foreign tourists.

You keep locking up and delaying it you will never open. Need to get back to normal now, not in 1 month, 3 months 6 months or a year. Now. 

 

Thailand - and the world - is now needlessly destroying their economies and the kids are going to be so poor in the future they will condemn these lockdowns and debt building

What curfew rules in CM?

Restaurant hours may be limited in CM but that is not a curfew!

Well, an article published on the 22nd of October in the Bangkok Post about curfews ending in 17 provinces including Chiang Mai says otherwise.

It also said that the maximum number of people permitted to attend public gatherings would be 500. But it doesn't explain what that might encompass.Maybe this is for events like elephant shows and the night safari.

Restrictions on gatherings and early closures are NOT curfews!

A curfew is a regulation requiring people to remain indoors between specified hours, typically at night.  

CM has no such restrictions in place at the moment!
