Daily News reported that Thailand's justice minister Somsak Thepsuthin chaired a meeting of authorities associated with the country's prison system.

The minister said that the Department of Corrections were ready to allow family members to visit prisoners from Friday week, November 12th.

Relatives as well as inmates must be double-vaxxed and there are five protocols to follow including booking for visits in advance.

Two million N95 face masks are being distributed to the nation's prisons. Each prisoner will get seven for free.

It is a donation from the private sector, he said.

He said that 21 prisons had given a first dose of vaccine to inmates by October 15th and he urged prisons to ensure that second doses were administered in a timely fashion to enable the visits to take place.

Family visits have been off for almost a year as the nation's prisons have proved to be hotbeds of Covid-19 infection.

Good, so they still don't have a clue... A vaccine only protect you to be less ill if you catch Covid, With several cases in the prisons there is still a possible outbreak coming.....Vaccinated or not, positive tests are positive sick or not,...... But Oh I forgot,  a new category  will appear soon... positive cases from prison visitors....  than we have PCR tests in normal public and prisoners , ATK tests which we don't count, Prison tests from prison visitors which we don't count too  and other clusters we forget, and see soon we have zero infections

About time! Prisoners are always particularly isolated by never more than during Covid.

The 2mil N95s are a great boon. Wonder if they’re a gift from a well-off ex-prisoner. Capt Flour, perhaps?

Should be noted that there are prisons in every province. Some have more than one. So 21 prisons getting a first dose (using up the Sinovac?) is no big achievement.

At least they’re testing in a captive audience. Hundreds of prisoners test positive every day—515 just today.
