National seminar on ways to develop constructive and safe media

A national seminar on ways to develop constructive and safe media was held to address media issues.

Mr. Paiboon Wattanasiritham, the Deputy Prime Minister and Social Development and Human Security Minister, presided over the national seminar on ways to develop constructive and safe media. At the seminar, Mr. Jaran Pukditanakul, the Permanent Secretary for Justice and Chairman of the subcommittee responsible for integrating and amending media laws, said public media is an important element for addressing national problems, especially issues relating conflicts between various sides of the society. He said the media has to be clearly unbiased and independent.

In the past, the public media was intervened by influential figures and state authorities, and such intervention can be dangerous. Therefore, the government cannot allow the public media to be manipulated. Moreover, fair and proper management is needed to uphold its impartiality and independence.

However, the media laws at the moment still need to be sorted and structured. The interim government will try to solve important media issues before it will end its term in the next six months.

That's rich - a government that was appointed by a military junta who has several times intimidated the media is holding a seminary on "constructive and safe" media.

As they promised, TITV is now full of dated documentaries, altho noticed the adverts are back!

Altho Thais might learn something about the rest of the world that seems cold comfort as some of their investigative programmes were very popular.

They don't quite understand safety in diversity!

It should be no big problem. FREE SPEECH......... We are not living in the 18.th century.

Controling the media ? Doesn't sound right. Are we approaching Laos, North Vietnam and China ?

Seems that the "rigth-thinking" are taking over.

Cheers
