British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will arrive in Thailand this week as part of a week-long visit to Southeast Asia.

The aim of the visit is to strengthen economic and security links with what the UK government says are fast-growing and increasingly influential countries.

Truss will visit Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia in order to strengthen the UK’s relationship with each country,

Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss said:

“I want to position Britain where the future growth is and to think about who our major partners will be in 2050 and beyond.

“Southeast Asia will be the engine of the global economy and I want Britain to be part of that, upgrading our economic and security relations with the region to reflect its growing importance.

“Deeper ties are a win-win, delivering jobs and opportunities for British people while ensuring an open, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific. Working with key Southeast Asia partners will help us promote freedom and democracy across the world”.

Somebody just gave the game away as to when they think they'll be seeing any benefits to Brexit.

I consider Myanmar to be the  first port of call for Liz in  South East Asia to insist on further development in the area .

I need to check my calendar and email box for the British Embassy's dinner in honour of the esteemed Foreign Secretary. Hopefully a nice roast beef, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. ????

PS. If it is so important, why are they only sending a secretary?

Weren't all the relevant leaders in Scotland last week for COP26?

She could have hopped on the train and saved the UK government $$$ and also improved her green credentials.

Yes, but she wouldn't have been able to sneak over to Soi Cowboy for a show then. ????

A waste of time. You need to go to the Polish embassy; that's where they are manufactured now..........

I suspect Liz is absolutely delighted to escape to S.E Asia for a few days to avoid the sh*t storm going on in Parliament at the moment.  An easy call for her. Just promise lots of financial help that will all come to nothing as it always does.

I hope she's got her "non-quarantine" night in a hotel booked.  ????

Surely she wouldn't use her position to by-pass the process all other Britons have to go through.

Because unbelievably her boss would be even worse

I saw a clip of an interview she did for the BBC last year. She is seriously dense and had no grasp of her subject. Some advert for a UK government!

Being British, and over 65, I'm sure they will form an orderly queue and greet her with courtesy.
