I don't know if now is the time, but it had better be soon.  Life won't be normal without bars and pubs open.

As a non drinker, I still voted for the first one, it is up to the drinkers themselves to be responsible and stay sober, not a bunch of clueless soldiers on their regular power trips.

A lot of Thai mothers seem to support drunken driving ????

Yes, and it is much the same stupid mentality as giving the keys of their motorbikes to their underage children. Well up here in the sticks anyway.

With respect to peoples beliefs with regard to the drinking of alcohol, I voted for the first option simply to convey the transformation of enjoyment I witnessed here in Siem Reap (Cambodia) this past weekend (Water Festival). There are no longer bans on alcohol  and no more time restrictions on its consumption. Siem Reap became a tourist mecca again and it was so nice to see many thousands of visitors again (mostly domestic) but including many farangs enjoying the sights, Angor Wat being the favorite.  The bar/restaurants that were open were very busy, despite social distancing rules. I visited my favorite family run BBQ beef restaurant and was able to enjoy Angkor beer and ABC stout (black beer) with my steak! Of note, during my visit nowhere was I asked to show my vaccination card.

For reference (22 November 2021):-

"Cambodia is ready to welcome international visitors fully vaccinated against COVID-19 based on the good tourist movement management during the Water Festival holiday in the past three days"

Lift all the silly restrictions on booze bans either due to covid or the 2-5pm timing etc

Lift the silly restrictions on gambling and offer sensible advice and help groups.

Lift all the dumb and silly laws and actively and effectively enforce those laws which are sensible.

The idea that the majority are inconvenienced because the police are too lazy to enforce the few can’t behave has always been preposterous.

As a non-drinker who can't afford restaurants & bars, I shouldn't really comment here. If alcohol restrictions are lifted due to profit from foreigners, that means they're lifted for Thais, too. As has been amply demonstrated in the past, indoor social drinking gets out of hand & Covid is spread, breathing, laughing, talking loudly, sex with strangers. I'm not a moralist, that's the fact. Yeah, I miss the old Thailand, too, but it's just not time yet.

When is time? because covid will always be with us ?

The sooner we realise its not an automatic death sentence the better - Thailand would do far better to get on with its vaccination program as fast as possible then continue booster vaccinations.

Breakthrough cases will still exist, but those who are vaccinated have protected themselves and those who choose not to face a greater risks.

IF a places start insisting on only the vaccinated entering I suspect we will see a load of fake certificates - the government may be better placed to ’encourage and educate’ to get as many people vaccinated.

The issue of course is that people are still struggling to get decent vaccinations....  the government are still failing and always will fail because the vaccine roll out is too slow - those who were vaccinated 6 months ago now need boosters.....

The government need to get the vaccines out there to everyone and just get on with life instead of blowing hot-air around... Get the job done and keep doing it..

Real easy my 3 yesses for today

1. Yes Bars should be open

2. Yes Porn should be allowed in either the privacy of your home, private clubs or on the internet

3. Yes Casinos should be legalized

Just think of the tax dollars they could rake in.

I am also currently a non drinker but believe the time has come to breathe some life back into the entertainment industry, put some smiles back on faces, let those at risk concentrate on their own welfare, and take appropriate action

A few posts back there was a post about Cambodia, & the 1000's of tourists etc.

For many years both Cambodia & Vietnam have been in Thailand's shadow when it came to the sheer number of tourists visiting/staying.

Well now both countries have opened-up, AND selling alcohol too.. (cheaper than Thailand) it would be good to see more resorts over there, and give the LoS some real competition, and remind all the head-in-the-sand folk that run the Thai Gov that they damn well missed their chance this high season, and maybe for a long time to come..JUST by being to damn restrictive both with the complicated entry procceedures, and keeping all the bars etc firmly closed..

.. I really do hope that somewhere in the fantasy offices of TaT they are monitoring the tourists actually flying into Vietnam & Cambodia.

As for my Mrs, and the bar we've been running for 20+ years..We've got the 6 wheel truck in for all the 'bar furniture' we have not sold already.. It's looking like a 'Coffee Bar' in Issan, rather than the bar in Hua Hin... End of an era for us & our loyal staff I guess.

Oh yeah..The poll... YES Mr Prayut, get the bars opened up again! (or like in our case it's to late to make a difference now)  Thailand may as well stay closed..!

Just open everything up.  If they must keep something closed, then keep the clubs closed for the moment, but I see no problem with allowing bars and restaurants to open normally.  Let's be honest here, many are open and serving illegally anyway, thereby defeating the objective, which is 1. Try to control COVID, and 2. The suppression of the people, which is far more important it seems.

No vaccine no drink should be the rule for all foreigners. No vaccine no entry to the country. No vaccine no 90 day renewal etc etc

You forgot to include unvax'd should be placed in concentration camps, and forced, uncompensated to produce the vaccine.
