Second hotel I stayed at in Bkk had several women hanging around in the foyer, which I found strange. Never occurred to me that they were pros waiting for customers.

 

Back then I used to eat breakfast at a well known German restaurant in Soi 4. There were always several women seat warming there too, which I also thought curious.

 

I was very naive when I first started visiting Thailand. However, I embarked on a steep learning curve.

After a long term relationship, my fiance left me in the early 00's. I then endured a decade of the miserable dating scene in America, where such sites are filled with psychos full of baggage, ridiculous expectations, and the bar scene is likely to land you with charges for looking at someone the wrong way. Thus, I gotta say, that after landing in BKK for the first time, and wandering into a Nana bar, it was truly a godsend.

It is what it is, I was, and I am fortunate.  I never really had to be on a "budget", but obviously there are those of us that less fortunate when it comes to money, and who have to play "close to the wallet", as such I'm only trying to point out that if one chooses the right places a good time can be has for less than an arm and a leg.

Never understood the problem when the bar punts insists to inspect the ladies drinks, just to make sure they drink alchohol.

I could explain  it to you but I can't  make you understand,   If this platform allowed me the ability  to write in crayon, then perhaps you had a chance.  So, by your definition  if you pay for a Porsche,  but get a Ford. Simple question, does it matter if the lady drink contain alchohol or not? If you are concerned about the girls, you should be concerned about they have to drink alchohol by the choice of customer and not by themselves.

If you feel so bad about the bars, why you go there? You missing my point, many girls and often the pro girls, do not drink alcohol by choice when working. My experience out from those bars I have choosed to visit, the owner of the bar treat the girls good and fair. If they try to take advantage of the girls, they just find a new bar, or stock up with regulars. BF one, BF two etc, so you do not understand it have to be beneficial for both parts. The bar owners do not own the girls like some like to think, and most girls are smarter than so to be take advantage of!

 

Payment day, they pack up and go, easy as that.

Do you actually know any bar girls and have you actually been to their room? Doesn't seem like it.

For a start, girls that work in a bar don't normally have guys come to their room for sex, so that makes your last sentence "unfortunate".

If you actually knew anything about it you'd know that they usually share a room with friends, so are you saying that they bring guys off the street back to their room ( instead of going to the guy's hotel room ) and have sex in front of their friends that are trying to sleep?

The woman gets a portion of the bar girl drink , usually the extra amount, the extra from a normal drink .

Drink :100 Baht

Ladydrink :150 Baht

Lady gets the 50 Baht

Many books have been written about the goings on in Thai bars. I could contribute a few stories myself.

I once had an unfortunate liason with a Filipina from a Cypriot bar. No bar fine as such, but I had to buy an overpriced bottle of booze for her to take her out of the bar, and by the time we left she was so inebriated that when we got to the room she fell asleep. Not my favourite memory of that boring country.
