Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed local officials in Thailand’s western border province of Tak to provide humanitarian aid and temporary shelter to about 4,000 people fleeing the fighting in Myanmar.

Deputy Defence Minister General Chaichan Changmongkol said on Monday that the prime minister also assigned Tak’s governor to oversee the overall refugee situation, with military support.

Some of them who were infected with COVID-19 have been isolated and sent for treatment in hospital. All seeking refuge are now sheltering in Mae Tao and Mahawan sub-districts.

Nice to see Thailand step up in this regard, given their historical lack of f***s given.

Its surprising the power some NGO and the UN have when they decide to plant their Boots, and request " Immediate Access " to the refugees.

Only yesterday 800 refugees were "escorted " back to the border, as they wanted to return back to Myanmar " voluntarily ".

Why do things have to get so bad until Thailand shows some compassion and sense of Humanity,

I hope the word travels quickly that Thailand is now offering assistance to refugees of he murderous  Regime in Myanmar., so that others may benefit from Thailands good will

Why not invite them to the Bocelli concert in Phuket?

That would be "music to someone's ears"!

We can only hope that all the aid/money reaches the refuges, and officials don't charge them for food or skim off whatever they can. But.
