Fugitive former PM Thaksin suggests Thailand needs a "smart leader" - HIM!

Fugitive former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra - also known these days as Tony Woodsome - went on his Facebook and YouTube channels last night with some New Year messages for the Thai people.

They were mostly about him and his yearning to return.

It was billed as learning lessons from the 2004 tsunami for the pandemic.

Thaksin was in charge then.

He said for the country to survive it was clear that someone who was smart needed to be at the helm.

That someone was him and clearly was a direct barb at the current PM Prayuth Chan-ocha, notes ASEAN NOW.

Daily News reported only one section of the "Care ClubHouse" chat with Thaksin's followers.

He said that one of his new year wishes was for the Thai people to have the chance for him to return to the country to work - accepting that such a statement would inflame his detractors.

Then he said that he wanted to look after his grandchildren, was prepared to fix the government all for the price of a single glass of "ooliang tea" and would invite millionaires in Thailand to promote start ups.

His New Year message was not a traditional set of platitudes for the Thai people - more like a plea to return to Thailand from someone missing his homeland.

Something that looks unlikely any time soon, suggests ASEAN NOW.

Thaksin was as corrupt as any "leader" before and after him. But Thailand was a more free and better place then.

Smartest leader Thailand ever had. Yep, he dipped the till just like the rest, and?   Nearly every Thai I know would take him back in a heartbeat.

  • A mentally retarded goldfish would be smarter than what we've got at present.

He is still loved and remembered for bringing in the free (B30) health care scheme. It lifted up the worrying fear of having to sell up homes and land when (mainly) parents were hospitalised.

Apart from the extra-judicial executions.

He should watch the homesickness. Longing for fish and chips was the undoing of Ronnie Biggs.

I miss the days when he was in charge..

This is true, but it was an even freer and better place before the Khong Raan Chin bought the election and forced his puritan Hakka Chinese Immigrant "values" on Thailand - most of it was posturing - fake morality to try and convince people they were a moral government.

I agree. If's it's a choice between Thaksin and Prayut/Anutin I'd take Thaksin every time.

Yes. When he was in power he introduced, amongst other things, the rule that government office workers had to stagger their dinner breaks. No office was allowed to completely close for lunch. It changed back as soon as he was booted out.

Yes, in the beginning he did many good things , but as with

many 3 rd World leaders, he thought the country belonged

to him and his family , total power , corrupts.

Thailand surely doesn't need this OLD man in charge or any of the current old dinosaurs.

If he came back to help by consulting maybe ....

I agree but behind the scenes we didn't know of his illegal land deals that he and his wife, at the time, carried out. And his illegal share dealings. For that he was sentenced to five years for illegally holding shares in the state's phone concessionaires and conflict of interest. We were all well hoodwinked.

The yellow shirts are a fading lot. Middle and upper class of elites and attachment to the previous monarch will not have the same reasons to turn out on the streets in numbers. Most have been affected by the economic downturn and their leaders are advance in age and some are criminally indicted. The southern folks that form the bulk of the demonstrators on the past are disillusioned with the political situation and fallen out with their affiliation to the Democratic Party.I don’t see any new yellow shirts leaders nor expect mass outpouring of yellow shirts like in the past. Similarly I think the red shirts have also lost their bearings and have fractured to be an insignificant group.

lived in Thailand 27 years. Preferred it before he was in charge, honestly, but yes he was better than certain others.

Thaksin is a NWO-Soros-puppet

Thailand did good with throwing him out.  As long as these kind of people struggle putting a foot into Thailand, I am happy here! No matter what you all believe about Prayuth and his government, he is trying to protecting the Thai people from these globalist powers since ever!

A bit of background information on this puppet and hypocrite Thaksin:

Many years ago, before "The Thaiger" was completely taken over by the internationalists promoting their agenda, they even published something like that here as well:

And God only knows what the current Gangsters running the country are doing under wraps as virtually nothing here is transparent when it comes to money.  As time passes we will find out how much is being creamed off but that may not be in my lifetime, as a proper Government run by honest people seems to be Decades away !

Similar has been perpetrated by many leaders before and after Thaksin; Thammasat, Suchinda, Preah Vihear Massacre, Rajaprasong etc, etc, etc.

Remember those extra-judicial killings were sanctioned, couldn't have happened otherwise, and they were widely popular at the time.

He was a lot less corrupt, and that was part of the problem. He stopped a lot of the blatant corruption including the unpaid loans from government banks to hi-so's like Sondhi by getting rid of the KTB CEO Viroj.

It then spiraled from there, and they conspired to get him out.

Thai Truth is one of a few websites in Thailand not being controlled by Big Media and telling the people the truth.

All of your defamatory accusations have no meaning. The truth always stands by itself, while the lie needs to be supported by oppression and censorship, defamation and hate.

This will be proven soon enough by the fact that the moderators here will most likely delete my post due to "non-approved sources". Because on this forum here, just sources from Big Media are allowed, everything else is being censored.

And again, censorship is just needed to oppress the truth. Because lies always demolish themselves, while the truth stands up by itself. That is why lies are always needed to being pushed and repeated a hundred times, while the truth needs to be censored.

If these "conspiracy sites" would tell lies, you would NOT need to censor them. You could argue against them and proving the lies.

But as this is not possible, they are being defamed as "conspiracy sites" and just censored.
