Almost 100% jump from yesterday.
so now its really here in full swing.
some countries were reporting that high jumps every day, but only at the pick of infections.
later it was only some 30% daily jumps.
way to go for thailand from now on.
Now they will knee jerk and close borders, affecting foreigners, that instead of shutting new year celebrations (didnt want to upset thai that much)

There are 1,847 people in America who would disagree with you, but they died of Covid yesterday.

not as straight forward as you think,  many people under intense treatment in hospitals are from much older infections i.e. delta, many are unvaccinated, many have other serious illness

There is still no clear evidence either way that omicron is milder or just as deadly as delta, if there is evidence then it has not been made officially public - this of course is critical as to how this unfolds, I expect we will know soon enough

Yes must be the Kit. This is the Roche ATK test kit instructions. This one says Nasal on the test. Maybe yours says Nasal and Throat. Have not seen one of those.  I also have the Saliva antigen kits as well.

The FDA recommended doing both no matter what the instructions said - I posted the article here last week but that does not solve the issue of "can the ATK used effectively detect omicron no matter what the sample is"

I would also like to know if the detections listed for Pattaya are ATK or PCR or both, that is unclear right now

Public Health Ministry has decided to raise the nation's Covid-19 alert to Level 4 after seeing new Covid-19 cases soar to 5,775 on Thursday.

Thailand has just increased the coronavirus alert level to four. The guideline for this level is to detain incoming travellers in quarantine on arrival. This hasn’t been put into place yet, but CCSA will be having a meeting tomorrow to discuss changes to entry requirements.

I do agree with what your saying, but still it would he nice to have a truly validated set of updated instruction so the tests are done correctly.

Thailand has enough hospital beds in case of Omicron surge

“Bangkok has up to 11,000 beds available for patients with severe symptoms, 6,000 beds for level 2 patients, and 5,000 beds for level 3 patients.”

“From the statistics of Omicron cases in Thailand, 48 per cent are asymptomatic, while 41 per cent have mild symptoms,” Somsak pointed out. “These patients can be treated at isolation centres and will not require hospital beds,” he said.

vaccine was a complete waste of time

Why would you say that. Do you believe the unvaccinated fare better than the vaccinated.  Do you believe that the vaccinated are the only ones who get the virus, or are you just saying that your an antivaxxer and vaccines do not reduce the chances of getting gravely ill and possibly dying like being unvaxxed does.

This was inevitable and the numbers will continue to climb.

How much hospitalizations increase will depend on whether MoPH pursues rational policies and limits hospitalization to serious cases.

And also on progress with booster doses especially for high risk groups.

Imagine how many are going to have to pay like this and this is actually a positive case.?

Thailand raises Covid alert level to second highest level due to Omicron and new year clusters

“There will be no lockdown but some activities could be restricted in at-risk venues with crowded conditions and lack of proper airflow for public safety,” said Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, the director-general of the Department of Disease Control.

“This is an announcement to raise the alert level and we will have to discuss with the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) first before new measures can come into effect,” he said.

COVID treatment is free for Thai citizens

Normally when I’m in Thailand I don’t have insurance but after this mess I’m definitely buying it just for in case something bad does happen..

I know I’m young and stupid but I don’t go out looking for trouble.

Kind of mandatory if you want to enter now, however it seems that some of those with policies got what they paid for...absolutely nothing, as they did not read the fine print for the policy.

As Americans are one of the fattest nations on the planet and have a low vaccine take up, that is hardly a surprise is it. When 1 in 5 die from related obesity a simple lung related virus is bound to effect people who think stuffing their face is more important that a healthy ish body. Everything in moderation.

Level 4 reads like a self imposed isolationist provision. 1 step away from shutting the entire country down again for all incoming and outgoing.  If they do, then they have doomed the country into self destruction amid internal strife.  Maybe that's the goal of this group in order to remain in power forever.

Schools are shut again. Most Thais I know aren't that happy about it.

Do you know the roughcosts for foreigner's that are hospitalised under various scenarios: 1) no symptoms, 2) mild symptoms, 3) serious condition, ICU etc. I would say most (private school) teachers here have no insurance at all, or certaianly not enough to cover medical costs.
