for use IN Thailand .... with best selection of games? the PS2 ....

I am thinking of upgrading soon .... but I'll wait until there are more games out there and get the 360 probably

<I think that is the one that can handle the BlueRay discs ... (2 birds and all that!)

blu-ray is sony's answer to the industry's hd-dvd juggernaut so ps3 has it.sony's last answer, beta, sure flopped with vhs taking over.i have the newer slimmer ps2 and have played resident evil 4 a jillion times and am now starting to play scarface.i can wait for the ps3 price to come down or whenever resident evil 5 comes out.

There are a lot of varying opinions on this, but it really depends.

For games that everyone can play, all ages: Wii. (12-15k)

For the latest in graphics and technology: PS3. (no widespread copies yet, AFAIK) (20-24k)

For a cheap solution with a HUGE game library: PS2. (5-6k)

For great graphics and a good library: Xbox 360. (13-15k)

if you've got the cash to fork out on a ps3 - DON'T!

I'd recommend a 360 if you like the "hardcore" games and online play. Also the Wii for it's sheer playability when it comes to non-gamers (seeing my 4yr old play his granny at bowling was a scream). The Wii is the perfect party console.

So, get both :o

linky for Little Jez & mates

As a general rule of thumb, you don't buy the console for the actual console itself, but for the library. Everyone should at least try such games as Gears of War & Rainbow6:Vegas - along with Wii Sports.

I will be going for a 360 first (for graphics and a library that is more appealing to ehem 'mature' gamers like myself (eg Rainbow Six Vegas, Forza etc) but these games are not easy to pick up.

So may well also buy a Wii for my non-gaming friends and family to enjoy.

You could look at the hardware sales in Japan for an inkling of what's hot and what's not.

Each month, the DS Lite sells around 120,000+ units. OMFG (this is only for Japan).

The Wii comes in at around 60,000+ units.

The PSP comes in at around 30,000 units.

The PS2 comes in at around 10,000 units.

The PS3 at around 9,000.

The Xbox 360 (which was never popular in Japan, never will be, so disregard this) around 2,000 units.

It's been like this for around a year. The HUGE HUGE HUGE sales of the DS Lite (22 million total) means they're practically printing money.

The Wii hasn't sold as well mainly because it's so hard to find through normal retail channels.

It really all depends on who's playing the games! All the family i.e. kids and adults, just you? I personally will be going for the PS3 but not just for games the Blue-ray player is a huge bonus for me not to mention all the backwards compatible PS2 games to keep you busy till the PS3 games collection expands (it is poor at the moment BUT it's not gonna stay like that I can assure you) and the LinuxsOS available for it to makes it the all round entertainment system. Wii is great for kids and the non-gaming family members but real games will soon become bored I think. The 360 is strong in between option though decent games, good graphics, and excellent on-line options but in my opinion it is second best.

Fellas:

Let me chip in.

I find the Nintendo DS Lite more enjoyable to play than any console. I spend more time with this than any big console. The online play is excellent. The new Planet Puzzle League even has voice. I find the variety of games unmatched. Between the battle of the handhelds the DS is far superior than the PSP and the sales worldwide show it. Don't waste the cash for a PSP.

I look at the big consoles mostly for the gameplay. Now I have the WII and purchased it knowing that a new MArio, Metroid, Pokemon, Super Smash, etc... slew of games would be released. If you don't like these games and characters and this style of play then you wouldn't get a Wii. But, how can you not like MArio. Recently, I have not been impressed with the games for the Wii but i know soon that AMrio Galaxy, Mario Football, Metroid 3,Pokemon Battle, and Super Smash will be out soon. So I will wait.

Now i bought a PS2 so I could play Guitar Hero. It was worth the purchase. Then Guitar Hero 2 came out and it was equally as entertaining. But overall I spend more time playing the Wii and GAmecube than the PS2. Have not gotten the PS3 yet. I have never played an XBOX but would be more inclined to buy XBox over PS3 due to many of its games and characters... and good online play.

Overall, I think the DS still is the best. You can take it anywhere. Has a variety of games. Free online play. Soon it will work with the Wii in many areas.

Just my thoughts.

How many of you are buying copied DS and Wii games? I have been told that these games can not be played online.

Is this true?

Also, do you think we could start a list of friendcodes for the DS?

Never tried DS & Wii online since I switched from originals

I get all my online kicks from my 360, which I will never mod

Just a few more months now till the best season ever for games is here! Halo 3 (360), Rachet & Clank (PS3), Metroid (Wii), Crysis (PC) and many more

Best game of the year I think is going to be Bioshock as I am a HUGE fan of the System Shock series. Must have completed both 2 or 3 times each, which is unheard of for me
