Two detained pro-democracy protest leaders, Jatupat “Pai Daodin” Boonpattararaksa and Panupong “Mike Rayong” Jadnok, were granted temporary bail yesterday evening, February 9th, but they must stay home during assigned curfew hours and wear EM (electronic monitoring) bracelets at all times.

According to their lawyers from the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights Center, they filed a request for temporary bail against the two activists in all cases involving the Criminal Court, including sedition and lese majeste cases of Section 112.

The petition for the bail reasoned that Jatupat’s mother was injured in an accident with a broken leg, so the lawyers requested for a temporary release to allow him to see his mother. As for Panupong, his mother could not functionally do the family’s fried durians business to feed the family. Therefore, the lawyers asked for a temporary release to allow him to take care of the mother’s burden.
