Getting a new license in a province where you are not registered?

I am registered in one province, but will be going on a long holiday in another province.  While I am in the new province, I would like to get a new drivers license.  Will the local dlt accept the immigration paperwork from another province as my registered address and let me take a test, or will I have to go to the local immigration office and change addresses.  Would I need to do some sort of online update of my address  before going to local immigration?

Ideally the easiest scenario would be to show the registered address from the registered province and not have to deal with the local immigration department.

I did the same last year, i.e., I'm registered elsewhere but easily renewed my 5 yr DL in Cha-am whilst passing through Petchaburi province.
