webfact
by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has warned against cyber attacks due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, urging firms and agencies to increase cyber protection. NCSA Deputy Secretary-General Gp Capt Amorn Chomchoey said 12 cyber attacks have been discovered since 13 January and were linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, mostly targeting key infrastructures such as banks, border control agencies, and news websites. Four of such attacks were found to be using a malware called Hermetic Wiper to erase crucial information. DDOS attacks were targeting financial websites. The general public was affected by a malware called Cyclops Blink, after clicking web links directing them to websites propagating fake news. Text messages containing fake information were also sent to civilians. Firms and agencies in Thailand are urged to have an adequate cybersecurity system in place as well as close down any loopholes within their networks. The general public is advised to refrain from clicking on suspicious links, and enable Two Factor Authentication for their online accounts. General users should keep the operating systems of their devices up to date, install anti-malware, and regularly back up their data. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-03-04 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Will B Good
Was there ever any outcome to that scam where 1000's (I was one of them) had multiple small amounts withdrawn from their bank accounts?

internationalism
I dont see any connection of this war to thailand. possibly ukrainian hackers targeting thai government for not condemning aggression. But than they have more important targets now. This "fake news" warning public of malware is just another way of censoring news by the government. So they will flock back to the official governmental disinformation channels. How multiple leaks of hundreds of thousands Thailand Pass applicants were possible? All within the last month. What about multiple leaks of vaccine applications? Multiple Immigration leaks? Every few month there is a major breach of expatriates data. How are they connected to war? After their failed attempts to shut down exiled opposition figures and domestically losing cyber war against enlightened young generation, they are reviving one gateway idea, to tightly control net, as in china. Wow….this sounds serious. The country could be caught without that absolutely essential single internet gateway. Good thing big brother China is there to lend a hand and protect Thailand from all manner of scary cyber-danger. Anyone or any company should have adequate cyber security regardless of what's going on around the planet.

It is not a question of targeting Thailand. Malware, viruses, trojans, etc. are not programmed to check IP addresses and their GPS coordinates. They are programmed to seek and destroy. The concern is programs targeting Ukraine systems leaking over the internet onto other systems in other countries. Or, more mundane, shotgun attacks that are unconcerned with collateral damage. Led Lolly Yellow Lolly
Hilarious. Thailand's IP space is by far the biggest source of Malware anywhere in the world, so much so that I have to route all our company outbound mail via Singapore so it has any chance of being delivered.

He is talking about direct threats to thai websites - 12 since 13.01. He gives exact numbers and details of each. Those are the most dangerous, because aimed at the government or banks. i would think many hackers around the world are employed now by different governments towards war in ukraine. Russians has warned that any hack attempt to their nuclear capabilities will be treated as an act of war
