Popular Post Stargeezr
I guess the Russian tourists should have exchanged their rubles for the US dollar, or Thai baht the moment they arrived to Thailand. The one option they have now is to find a way back to their country via China, or which other country that still has flights back to Russia. The Russian ruble will not be getting any better status for a long while. I do feel sorry for the ordinary Russians who have found themselves still outside of their country, because if they have not flights from Russia that are still going to Thailand, then they are in a pickle. I do not think that Thailand will be the only country whos tourism is affected by the higher fuel and other rising costs.

I think it's the way the article puts it "every booking that was made for travel into Russia was outweighed by six cancellations of pre-existing bookings". So, taking Germany: one new booking to Russia, eight cancellations, 700% cancellation rate. Or something like that. Either way, the message is: a disaster. I just saw the list of flights operating between Thailand and Russia, most are cancelled.

That's sending really needed money to the Ukrainian people. A benevolent suggestion, although I’m not really sure how it would work practically. For anyone really wanting to help, it would be better to make a donation to the Ukrainian Red Cross, who are in desperate need of medical and humanitarian supplies to help the thousands of Ukrainians maimed and hospitalised, and the millions of refugees fleeing the country. The Ukrainians in Thailand will get by. https://donate.redcrossredcrescent.org/ua/donate/~my-donation?_cv=1

As a US citizen, I find it despicable that we have learned nothing from the xenophobic behavior we exhibited during World War 2 when we put Japanese Americans into camps because they were 'Japanese'. Targeting all Russians, most of whom likely wouldn't support Putin's policies if they were told the truth, is no different. It is a slippery slope that we should not embark on lest we end up sliding down ourselves. 2

If they have Shengen visa they can fly to Finland and take the train as it still runs from Helsinki to St. Petersburg but I hope it will be closed soon too.
