Cofnas is not a particularly distinguished scholar, but neither was Arday. There's nothing so far in Cofnas' background that indicates he in any way fabricated his credentials. He hasn't lied about his life outside Academia. Many, many academics follow a convoluted path in gaining a Ph.D, nor is it unusual to wait until their 30's before entering a Ph.D program. However, the only thing which is relevant is whether Cofnas is correct about Arday's plagiarism. In any case, he had no responsibility for Cambridge's decision to investigate Arday's background. @Roadsternut seems to be forgetting that Arday killed himself before Cambridge took any disciplinary action against him. Does anyone believe Cambridge and the press should have ignored Arday's exaggerations and lies?
