Know Your Customer.  It means actually verifying the information your customer gives you.  Mainly your address.

I wonder how could they actually verify the address from a photoshopped bank statement or a driver license.

KYC is a CYA tool. I can provide several accepted proofs of address for a house I don't live in but cannot provide the same proof for the house I do live in.

  • why is it BS? financial institutions have legit reasons for doing KYC.

Amazon also asks a proof of address, which bank has printed one for you ?

Go online to your account and you can see your  profile  your address , just print that out all bank details are there , you can black what you dont like to be seen

Very disappointed. I just read through two pages on the topic thinking that the title had a typo and expecting to read about delicious fried chicken.

Maybe get a certificate of residence from immigration. You will need to take tour passport and blue or yellow housebook.

In my experience the institutions that I applied to provided a list of acceptable KYC documents as well as instructions for translation, if needed e.g. the translation service needed to include certain information on the translated document.

I ended using a translated copy of my TMN wifi bill.

I recently used my an insurance receipt as my proof of address.
