Officials from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) raided three houses in Mae Sai and Chiang Saen districts of the northern province of Chiang Rai today (Thursday) and seized assets, including cars, land title deeds and bank books, worth an estimated 1.9 billion baht.

Armed with search warrants, issued by the Chiang Rai provincial court, the officials simultaneously searched two houses in Wiang Phang Kham sub-district and one house in Pa Sak sub-district on the suspicion they are part of a major drug trafficking network.

The officials found land title deeds to 232 plots, worth about 1.25 billion baht, 155 cars and motorcycles, estimated to have a value of about 130 million baht, and 246 bank account documents containing financial transactions worth several hundreds of millions of baht.
