    Never got a first booster and only got the initial 2 injections so could get on airplanes.

If you need to travel because your COVID vaccination was over 270 days ago, then yes, because many countries now have this requirement for incoming travelers.

 

If you're worried about the virus itself, then it's not necessary.

I hear this surprisingly often. It is based on an erroneous premise: you do not need to be inoculated to get on a plane, I have travelled from Thailand to Europe and back with zero shots and it was a breeze.
