poppysdad
My Thai wife seems obsessed with the idea that we have to register our recent marriage with the British Embassy in Bangkok, to which i say there is no need to do so but she insists she's correct. So, is there a need to do so, is there a requirement to do so or is there even a facility to do so.
ubonjoe
As far as I know the UK embassy does not register marriages. It certainly not shown on this page of the embassy website. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-thailand
poppysdad
Thanks Joe. Now I need to convince my wife. I also sent an email to the embassy and they just replied basically stating that if we were legally married in Thailand then that wedding will be recognised not just in the uk but just about every other country as well. Where do Thai people get some of their ideas from?

She also fears she would lose out in any later 'will' I write to an ex-wife from 20 years ago !

Maybe she was confused with the requirement to get Affirmation Of Freedom To Marry from the embassy, but you already had that?
steve187
there is no way to register at BE, just get a good translation of both sides of the paperwork with colour copies, and a few good colour copies of the actual certificate, keep one original certificate yourself safe with passport etc.
