Just posting a truthful view with supporting links. No use in lying to oneself is there. Life needs to be lived but people should not ignore the facts.

It's about time these holier than thou medics were put back in their cages. They are here to treat sickness & injury, not to be policemen. Before long they will be visiting food shops and banning the sales of a myriad of food because it is fattening or too salty. Doctors are nothing more than service engineers on the human body who have been allowed to connthenpubkic into thinking they are god's.

In BKK for a couple of weeks in April and the bars I frequented were same as 4 years ago - just a new batch of ladies and not as many customers. Can't comment on closing time, in bed by midnight at my age.

The reopening had pretty well already happened.

More funny than a Benny Hill Show.

Morons in ivory towers. Never giving us our life back. Maybe even the hard-corest yellow shirts start realizing what's going on.

when aren't health officials concerned!

When it is a brand new virus that China claims cannot be transferred between humans... as we heard about 2 years 3-4 months back?

So they want people not to share glasses, who does that?

Most Thais I know share glasses of drink.

Meanwhile, in Vietnam, bars have never been closed and masks are optional.

In the discussion before, a few points haven’t been mentioned:

1) Those officials, who are really concerned, are more afraid of the effects on Thai nightlife. We tend to look at Walking Street, Bangla, …, but the Thai nightlife scene is far bigger. An indicator, supporting this in the article, is “Visiting the clubs in Soi Ekamai (Sukhumvit 63) in Bangkok”.

2) Some of those fearmongers, constantly showing up in TV and press, have quite a different agenda than reducing Covid, they want to achieve different things. Check the background of some of those fearmongers! - A considerable number of them are supporters of very “orthodox” sects. They see it as a chance, to bring people to a more “desirable” buddhist life style, no alcohol, no tobacco, no parties.

3) Not only that a lot of money has been made by some with “fighting Covid” - a lot of businesses have been destroyed and a lot of tax money has been spent out of already empty coffers. Those making these decisions are for sure not interested in stopping everything immediately, so that people are waking up and demanding: Let’s analyze, what really worked. Let’s analyze, what the negative side effects of these measures were. And finally: let’s analyze, if those measures weren’t totally exaggerated in comparison to other problems, we never handled. Therefore, they prefer to keep the water boiling on a lower flame.

They make everyone take a Covid test?  Talk about a money maker that will never go away.  Huge money if they can keep the Covid testing in place forever.

I couldn't be concerned less. Haven't been to "entertainment venues" in years. Instead, I frequent "restaurants" quite regularly.

I buy a few cans of beer and go home and play guitar.

In bars/pubs some people have different drinks, they share these to taste each others.

At homes, [if you are passing or cannot stay] they offer you their drinking glass as a welcome for a quick slurp..

They see it in the same way as sharing a large pot of food in the centre of a table.

For a while, I would reserve judgement on this until about September/October.

And they should be afraid. Very afraid. Covid is dissipating, which is their worst nightmare, in regard to the oppression of the people. The re-opening of nightlife equates with getting back to normal. Which equates with less fear and paranoia, which equates with the eventual dissolution of the emergency decree, and the allowance of protests.

The perfect storm. The level of dissatisfaction with this govt. is mind boggling. Be afraid Prayuth. Your days are numbered, thankfully. See ya!

Mexico was one of the few nations on earth, to not engage in any economic shutdowns. Their economy is humming.

Open for months more like. The Ekkamai clubs have been openly trading until at least 1am for an age.  I drive down there often on a Friday night coming home and there are crowds every time.

What is the logic behind a 12 o'clock closure time; is covid more infectious after 12?

They fear giving up the power. Nothing to do with anyone's health.

More Compliance means more Envelope  handovers .. These people are like 4x2’s nailed together … they don’t care about the destruction of the country ..Disgusting they get away with it

I guess some people are really disappointed that is all over, The fear mongering has been on another level since day one, and not only from the authorities and the self professed "experts"  One particular "tall" guy on here was posting every day , every time some official "statistics" were released he felt the need to dutifully publish them on here along with a few cut and pasted charts to verify his efforts, and the same terrified people dutifully "liked" his declarations. and often added a few of their own figures to further fan the flames of fear, I wonder if these people always blindly believe government statistics without question?  It would appear that its not only the authorities that seek to control the behaviour of others. The same people also seemed to delight in vilifying anybody who dared to question the official "narrative"

I also found it a bit strange that the death of  80+ year old people  from covid was suddenly a  "tragedy" whereas, a few years ago, if they had died from Flu, or anything else for that matter it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.

There's going to be a few people with nothing to talk about now, but then again there's still monkey pox........!

Yes, these people were strange folk indeed.   But propaganda based on fear is a powerful tool and the majority of people (I think 70%) have no inbuilt defence against it.   There is even a certain percentage of people who are so susceptible to it they will not just believe everything they are told, but will act as useful idiots for the authorities and try and convince others to be as irrationally scared as they are.
