Featured Replies

I'm guessing he was suffering for withdrawal and I don't mean money from the bank...

  • I thought banks always wanted customer feedback.

  • Interesting that they have already calculated the exact sum of the damage caused. Very efficient!

When you are 40th in line waiting and Bangkok Bank only has one teller who is taking 30 minutes to deal with a customer depositing company payroll.

I recon he was making a statement on behalf everyone who has ever been mucked around by a bank. Perhaps displaying the collective rage syndrome that he just couldn't control. I'm sure there are many who have felt like doing something similar at one time or another. However we at least have brushed it off having become accustomed to this poor standard of doing business.

I'll make a note to send him a file in a birthday cake and some Prozac to calm him down.

Incidentally, he had 460,600 baht in bank deposits... ????

Sounds drug induced to me. I went to Pai once and it looked to me like the sort of place where a heap of drugs are available. This dude was probably off his rocker on shrooms or acid.

A breakdown of that is :

260,000 for the damage and 200,000 to the rep just for the inconvenience.

If he could find £15,000, £12k for the damage and £3k for the cops, he might get off!?

I also find getting the bank statement for my annual visa a hassle.

Someone's one and only card was eaten by the ATM.

Each time I read an article such as this, I ask myself how often the British police have to deal with crazed Thai visitors in the UK, smashing up banks, fighting in the bars, murdering or throwing folks off of balconies or simply jumping off a tall building themselves or going berserk on drugs. Each time I come up with the same answer - NEVER. Honestly, I feel for the RTP having to deal the daily event of trouble caused by visitors to this country.

damage in the sum of 460,600 baht

that's most probably just the material damage

I would guess that charges for labor cost, lost profit and inconveniencing branch customers will be added in time.

Great way to stay under the radar…

Damage: 460.600,49 Baht to be exact:).

Sure thats the key massage from Thai point of view.

Banks can make you mad at times... in this case it was crazy-mad, not angry-mad. Nevertheless, he deserves to be locked up for awhile.

Send him down to the slammer in Kanchanaburi and put him in a cell with Shane Looker.

He could teach Looker a thing or two about rocks and how useful they are for weighing down suitcases to keep them from rising to the surface of the water and ruining your holiday.

That'll show them.

I am not a supporter of mayhem and insane behavior, generally. But, I have no sympathy for banks, insurance companies and alot of large corporations. None. Many are not responsible citizens. And there are likely alot of others who do not like them either. Apparently. Glad it wasn't me!

So just use cash and don't sign any insurance contract.

You are not forced to use their services.

And any of this would still be no reason to smash up a bank.

I have a feeling there is more to this story , something happened at that branch, something bad enough to push him over the edge

Local news reporting he was angry as money did not come out of ATM no mater how long he waited.  Not sure if that means malfunction or he had no money in his account.

Sounds like my ex-wife…

They probably would not do business for him ? as he was an Over stay ? easily seen On his passport. ? ???

Well, I have been almost there as well. Bangkok Bank's customer service is second to none in "non-existence" while the pre-dominantely female staff balance around on their high heels with their noses 90 degrees up.
Absolute arrogance and racist treatment "you wait, he first" despite the queue numbering ........

I did not smash anything but took my entire business and personal finance banking needs elsewhere which was commented with "up to you".

He is now in custody charged with overstay, trespass and causing damage

One way to get attention, and a flight out.

Think of a number, double it, multiply by 2 and add a zero..

Standard formula.

Plus, maybe he went outside and keyed all the employees cars or scooters as well.

The place can frustrate people!

Any mention as to...............why?

Gotta be a back story to this one?

It was widely reported and personally experienced that BBL systems went "down" a few days ago.

I understand that this included ATMs.

I tried to do a transfer on the mobile app, but it didn't work until they got it fixed the next day.

I've only ever been treated with the utmost respect and courtesy in dealing with them for over 15yrs......including getting a full refund of 18000 baht scammed from my account.

That doesn't add up to the 460,600 bt quoted?!!   Where did that 600 bt come from or indeed, go to??!!
