BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) – Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he signed a notice of the Ministry of Public Health to regulate cannabis use and allay all concerns about cannabis decriminalization.

In a meeting on the proper and safe use of cannabis with officials concerned, Mr Anutin who is also a deputy prime minister said he already signed the notice on cannabis use control as proposed by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

Let's hope this notice actually clears up what has become utter confusion.  Whilst it appeared a prudent exercise to legalise cannabis for use as a medical treatment, the openness of the initial legislation has ensured that apart from helping those sufferers who can benefit from cannabis it appears to have become open season for the absolute pot heads and as importantly those who will ultimately profit from it.

Actually the restrictions seem fairly reasonable (see the linked article).

One does wonder why they didn't think of it before and announce together :whistling:

Why anyone thought it would be a good idea to let kids smoke it... I mean that is not even legal in the Netherlands.

Sure they can get it now through others but same goes for alcohol can get  through others too. So that is not really a reason to prohibit it. (before people bring that argument up)

double standards.

cigarettes, alcohol - to anybody from 18th and to pregnant and breast feeding.

Also cigarettes and alcohol can be used in public, but not ganja.

Ganja, as well as kratom, are traditional thai medical herbs for thousands years.

They are still wildly used in remote villages despite made illegal 50 years ago - for food, medicine and recreationally.

That notice prepared by department of alternative medicine doesn't have anything to do with complementary medicine. That department suppose to promote any herbs, as oppose to promote pharmaceutical medicines.
