That's a very good point, not only oil but also the stolen Gas from Ukraine. They started doing this years ago when they took Crimea and control of the Black Sea. Ukraine lost 80% of its gas and oil deposits along with its infrastructure. Its the Russians exclusive war booty.

 

The Kremlin took control of billions of dollars of equipment from Naftogaz the Ukraine company operating in the Black Sea and handed it over to Gazprom the Russian State energy giant.

 

Naftogaz has taken this to the courts and legal battles persist but take years to solve. Basically in one fell swoop Russia took over a huge amount of deposits and resources that they now utilize for their own reserves and exports.
