Exactly, the one country cited by another poster, Malaysia, they do charge a tourist tax but not if you are a foreigner based in Malaysia and have a Permanent Residence card through being married to a local, or work permit etc

Time for the peasants to rise up and take the country back. If it wants dual pricing on hotels what's next, dual pricing for everything you purchase in 7-11 and so on. Way to go. Honestly this country must be broke. So they want well heeled tourists paying top dollar for sub premium service rubbing shoulders at the buffet with people who lack table manners and get to stay in the same hotel rooms for less, that’s going to be a success I’m sure. Sounds like those in government just want to mix with well heeled foreigners but don’t have finances to do so. I for one would never use a premium resort in Thailand anymore than one in Europe, I like freedom to eat what I want when I want, and not be restricted to one menu. Just my choice, I don’t need a business Center or a gym/sauna anymore at 60,
teelac777
I wonder if they'll ever catch on to the notion that other places offer beaches, babes, beer, and good food, so they should seek ways to attract more foreigners instead of more dual pricing which drives them away.

The report is based on what someone said. The fact that what is proposed hasn't a chance in hell of being implemented - as the government does not control hotel room rates - doesn't mean it is click bait. It means the person who proposed it is an idiot who has no idea what he is talking about. Expand A delightful True Scotsman argument. Btw, I see nothing in the rules about misunderstandings getting one suspended. Perhaps I'm missing something. Have a nice day. Have you replied to the wrong post? I have no idea about any Scotsman, nor did I mention any rules about misunderstandings. I wrote that saying an article is click bait is against the rules of this site and can get you a suspension from posting. But I'll let Admin deal with you if they feel fit.
