snoop1130 Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 The state-run Transport Company has added 200 buses to its fleet, in anticipation of a surge in passenger demand during the holidays, from tomorrow until Sunday. The deputy transport permanent secretary, Sorapong Paitoonphong, said today (Tuesday) that the company will operate about 3,000 bus and passenger van trips, which can accommodate up to 60,000 passengers a day, when no fewer than 300,000 passengers are expected to use the services. The 200 additional buses are on standby for passengers who have not made advance ticket bookings, he said, as he gave an assurance that all passengers will be able to travel. Add say 12,000 a day with the extra buses and they can do 72,000 people a day. The statement of all passengers can travel therefore seems nonsense to me - would take 5 days to transport the whole 300,000 and you may not get to your locale before the holiday finishes - but hey, you could still travel !

There are still many quite new buses parked by The Railway-line Bypass Rd that could be brought out, the ones that used to move Russians around (Pegus). The new roadworks on Sukhumvit are already slowing traffic into town.....

Roadworks that will choke the normal flow on an everyday basis for the next few years We drive it a few times a week from Sathorn to the GFs shop in Bang Phli. When the weather allows I ride the Motorbike, if not we drive the car, and thus can use the expressway bypassing the congestion. The buses cause enough congestion of there own by not having a designated lane to travel in, by moving g from the curb all the way right and then back to the curb at the next stop.
