I'm particularly interested in single older males who live below 50k a month or say yearly 600k.

 

That's what the Australian government pension is give or take 

 

Now I'm in Pattaya now , I worked out I need at least 80k a month

 

Groceries are expensive here, going to bars drinking, massage everyday etc , impossible to live on a government pension!!

 

 

 

Now doesn't matter if your in Pattaya, Udon Thani, CM, Angeles city , I just want to know do you rarely exceed 50k Thai baht per month ?

How do you budget , obviously no going to go Go bars everyday,but as a expat do you really that way inclined to go to go go bars ?

Since i stopped paying 25k a month for golf it's easy to be below 50k a month. Might not be easy if you have a fake girlfriend aka employee

Live? No.

Exist? Barely.

Who goes to bars or for a massage every day? Is that common in Australia? With such a lifestyle, yes, 50k will be spent after less than half a month. As for go-go-bars, it depends where you are, e.g. here in Bangkok I rarely go, cause there's 'not much to see' anyway.

Pay.rent. then 1k per day.     All spent! 

Maybe you should go out there and talk to Thais.

Or just talk to one of you regular massage girls.

Tell her you struggle with 50k per month. And maybe ask her how much she makes per month.

Maybe one of those girls will suggest to move in with you. She will manage to live with that money for both of you and still save some of it.

Even though a single male shouldn't be here on 50k a month, (visa requires 65k), it is easy to live quite comfy on that amount, with those extra vices.   Maybe not a happy massage everyday, depending what that cost, as I haven't a clue.

 

No reason to pay more than 10k a month for housing & utilities, along with 10k a month for feeding yourself. 

 

Leaves 30k a month for vices.  If that's not enough, you got a few issues. IMHO

 

The wife & I do it on less than 30k a month, and next month, that will be cut in half, as we'll eliminate rent, electric & petrol for transport if wanting.

I did it for years.  It was not hard for ME to do.  I owned my motorcycle, rented an apartment, day in and day out ate Thai food 'cause I like it.  At least four (if not five) nights a week I was out and about, playing in pool leagues, watching the footy, etc.  If I wanted a massage I got it.  I live simply and modestly.  I lived the same way back in my own country.   I very much enjoy myself and do not feel like I wanted for anything.

I spend about about 45k per month, but that includes renting two houses, plus some office space.
If I just rented one house and no office space that would be down to about 25k/month (in the North of Thailand).
I don't go to bars though, instead drinking at home or with friends, and I don't have my own car, since my girlfriend currently takes care of car related expenses...

Did youu give up golf because of cost ?

Can earn under 65k per month if you have 800k in a Thai bank apparently

I like a daily, happy ending massage after my golf game, followed by prolonged drinking sessions with the mates and a few girlies before heading home to my leased penthouse suite for a well earned sleep. Of course I only dine in 5 star hotel restaurants.

The pension just doesn't cover this basic retirement lifestyle!  The Australian government should either, at least, double the pension to allow their citizens to live like civilized human beings, or negotiate with the Thais to give discounted prices for these basics to foreigners who prop up their economy by deigning to live in their country!

There are no ATM fees for a Thai card in a Thai ATM, withdrawing funds from a Thai account.

Sounds like you’re in a routine. It is easily done. For one, may I suggest getting out and exercising rather than hanging out in bars. Do you get in the bars every night in your home country? Sounds like you’re addicted.

I still play golf but only courses without compulsory caddy, Paying 700 baht\£16 for a caddy I didn't want irked me

Please tell us where that OZ pension provides such a lifestyle.  Seems anyone wanting to live that lifestyle and can't, made a few wrong choices on their way to retirement.

Can't think of anything more boring than sex bars or massage daily. You don't have to be spending silly amounts to have an interesting life here. 

50k per month barely gets you a one-bedder in a nice part of Bangkok. eating out here ain't cheap either, especially if you like good food at nice restaurants and bottles of wine to wash it down. 

 

I'm talking real good food not bugs 'n grubs or rump steak LOL. 

 

as for vices, well 30k per month doesn't get you much if you really want to party. 30k per week maybe. it costs a lot to "ring da bell" or buy tequila for seven girls at at time. 

 

sadly my budget doesn't quite extend to ALL of that so I'm living a fairly humble existence on 90k per month. 

 

I don't have a car either but given that I drink a lot and Bangkok traffic sucks I think I can be given a pass in that regard.

Yeah, I have the same mindset. There's a rib joint here owned by American, he does smoked ribs. That's a seldom meal, take out pizza again seldom. For Thai food I enjoy going to upperscale seafood places outside of Pattaya and Rayong.

 

I cook at home mostly, salads, salmon, ground beef recipes, steak.

 

Going out to eat western style food is usually disappointing.

I Dont drink ! Massage, 1 a week is fine for me.

Live in the countryside and enjoy the peace and quiet.

In Pattaya region 20K/mo will cover rent and utilities. 1K a day is doable for food and drink. Save a bit and treat yourself to a few soapies a month. Invest in a good gym is a good investment.

 

Your woes will increase if you have a steady lady. That's where the money will disappear.

The past year I spent 559970 so well within the said budget, and this year much the same.

I live in a nice condo and OK I don't drink at home. I like my foot massage but rarely more then once a week.

Yes, I go out for dinner weekly but as I like Thai food rarely on farang stuff and a few beers twice a week in locals near me.

And no, not girly ones either. I have a feeling my lady would kinda mind.

My days on a bellyful of beer by early afternoon are well behind me, if nothing for my livers sake.

No, I don't find it challenging on said 50K at all

Combo method ie 50k a month & 200k in the bank. Pension money...UK bank to Thai bank via Wise = no ATM charges.
