More Pie in the Sky; they are delusional and it will not be happening for several years to come.....if ever !

30 million "quality tourists"...I do wonder what is being smoked there?   Is this already the consequence of the cannabis release?   There should be no more "mass tourism"!

  • Sorry, not a big fan of cannabis tourism. Just the way I feel.

Using TAT's methods, my Budget for my company would read as follows:

Sales for next year are forecast to be between 500 billion and 10 billion.

The first number assumes our current customers continue to buy our products and the second is based on the assumption that they don't.  Net Profits, which normally amount to about 5% of sales, will (optimistically) follow the same pattern.

They don't have to. Thailand is already on top of tourist destinations worldwide.

I'm sure i have seen adverts for Thai airways on TV ("smooth as silk" is the slogan if i remember correctly) not seen one for a while though, maybe the money has run out.  however, for several reasons, I have never been tempted to fly on one of their planes

TAT - the gift that keeps on giving ! ????

Until the paranoia of Covid variants in Thailand forces borders to be closed again???

Of course they will  succeed! Furthermore they will publish the numbers to prove it!

And those numbers can be trusted lmfao ???? ????

Almost every week there is a TAT prediction about the future numbers of tourists. Is there a statistic that shows the forecast accuracy of the last 5 years? Or which prediction was correct in the last 5 years? If the number is zero, it would make sense to stop this prediction and crystal ball reading and spend the money on more important things.

I am sure people are just lining up to come to Thailand to get ripped off, after all their own countries are ripping them off right now, so why not Thailand.  On the downside, they may not have any money left to go to Thailand to be ripped off.

Thailand doesn't need new complicated strategies and campaigns. A bit of commen sense will do. Just copy Cambodia where everything is made easy and inviting for tourists and retirees. Here are a few suggestions >

* TAT should stop dreaming about "quality" tourists and just be grateful that ANY tourists are spending their foreign money in Thailand.

* Make a 3 month Tourist Visa good for THREE months - not TWO.

* Scrap the 800,000THB requirement for a Retirement Visa. Most retirees who live solely on Social Security get about 500,000THB which would nearly ALL be spent in Thailand in support of mainly small traders, service providers, tuktuk drivers, etc. rather than on international hotels and other big business. To get a 12 months Retirement Visa, why not these simple requirements

(1) Social security payments must be paid directly from the issuing authority in the relevant country into a Thai bank account,

(2) Minimal health cover provided by the Thai government must be taken out.

Meantime British Airways announce they won't be reinstating their LHR-BKK flights until next year at the earliest.

How many other airlines have taken a similar stance or are flying fewer planes into Thailand?

23 million will come from India alone.

How much of the 23 million will be used to buy straws and pay one girl to service four of them?

Don't you drive or ride motorbikes?

From what I saw during a tour of Pattaya last night, they are already here.

Do you think that the unelected PM and his soldiers would dare to do that?

Personally, yes!

Must be a definite error as the last estimate I came up with is 300 million tourists ......... outnumbering semi-divine Khon Thai on a ration of 1:4 - despite dual pricing and other funny ideas they have here

Update according to TAT logic,  now we expect 31 million visitors because BA extended the no flights to BKK.

Ah, I USED to play that game, back in bkk, before moving to rural Issan, 6 years ago...

Only Thais.  When farangs are about the cops emerge from their hiding places.

All depends in how people  get a visa  for their stay. If they make  them go thru hoops or make it reasonable. i have my ticket for jan,now checking in getting the right visa and info from the embassy. They maybe right but all depends on a few factors and  then they will return

30 million quality tourists hungry for Pad Thai! If each one eats 3 Pad Thais during their stay in LOS, we have 90 million Pad Thais being sold in 2023. Let's average the price of each Pad Thai at 100 Baht, so we have 1 billion Baht or about 250 million Us$... Not bad, not bad...

they moved the "Thailand - even more amazing" campaign to the comedy channel

30 million, yeah, right. And I target 30 million baht income! Both targets unrealistic……
