Any other Brexiters care to self-identify as xenophobic?

You’d have to ask them individually. Some may possibly understand that to be a slur. The general menticide these days would have it so, but I always take it as a badge of honour, especially when coming from a Remainer on these threads.

I humbly request the mods or whoever is in charge of topics in World News, to post a news story extolling the benefits of Brexit to balance the constant negative news we have been subject to since 2016.

Brexit didn't start in 2016.......?

That's what the HO stated after their blunder was revealed.

Not sure why you stopped reading after that:

So why did they give him settled status if he "did not need to apply"?

It was stressful for many.

Especially the cash in hand blokes...............????

No, it shows that you have an inability to comprehend what you are reading. Those are applications received, not people who have been given a 'long term visa'. The other figures(other than Settled and Pre-settled) are for Refused, Withdrawn/Void and Invalid.

Very few people have been travelling over the past 2.5 years. Now that they are, delays are occurring for various reasons.

Do you agree that whatever the circumstances, the 'All Passports' queue at immigration anywhere in the EU is usually longer than the 'EU/EEA' queue? Therefore, a loss for British passport holders.

I accept that it's a relative minor issue, but in the absence of anyone being willing/ able to explain the bigger Brexit benefits, it begs the question why we bothered to leave the EU?

Off-topic, again, start your own thread. Gawd......????

No, lets get back on topic , or now that the French immigration has gone back to work and their technical glitch has been sorted out , and there's no more delays at Dover , there's no reason to continue with this thread .

Although we could ask the question about how Brexit caused a two delay at Dover after the Brexit rules had been in place for two and a half years already ?

We could ask or just you and transam?

Were people free to travel the previous summer? This was the first real test since coming out of COVID restrictions.

Bottlenecks of lorries at Dover have been seen since then, but this summer is the first with unrestricted travel for the public since the lifting of all COVID-19 restrictions.

No idea, this thread is about, was a delay at Dover caused by Brexit, it wasn't, it was a French staff error.

Does it take a little longer now because we are once again a free sovereign nation, probably....time to move on, seems all back to normal....????

I answered a question from Mick Macmanus. It seems that you missed that.

Yes, the U.K did tell France that there would be more people travelling during the holiday period and so they should make sure they have enough immigration staff to process all the travellers  .

Seems like France ignored that advice , had understaffed immigration counters and that caused a delay in travelling at Dover .

Your link says that There are rail strikes in the U.K this week-end and there could once again be traffic problems .

Why did you post that link for ?

Was you trying to imply that there were still traffic jams and Brexit is the reason for those ?

I am suggesting that you cannot blame the French for the ongoing traffic problems in Kent.

There are no ongoing traffic problems in Dover , last weeks delays were caused by French immigration and those problems have now been resolved

Selective reading again?

Quote

Local authorities, tourism groups and travel operators have urged the government to find a solution to Kent's traffic problems at the Channel ports.

Eurotunnel, Visit Kent and council leaders in Ashford, Folkestone and Thanet are among those calling for investment in Kent's road network.

It urges the government to invest in improvements to the A2 between Lydden and Dover.

Signatories of the letter include:

Dover District Council

Folkestone & Hythe District Council

Ashford Borough Council

Canterbury City Council

Swale Borough Council

Thanet District Council

Kent County Council

Matthew Scott, Kent's Police & Crime Commissioner

Visit Kent

Getlink (Eurotunnel)

Are you suggesting that they are doing so because of that one incident? ????

The Councils want to widen and improve the road between Lydden and Dover , they want a dual carriage way rather than a single road .

Kent road improvements  are nothing to do with last weeks delays , the Councils have been asking for that road to be improved for the last 40 years

Okay, so you are saying that French border staff being 75 minutes late caused people to have to wait six hours.

But wasn't that on Friday? What about Saturday?

There was some kind in technical problem on the French side and French immigration only had half of their booths open , (Also, I had no idea that the other French staff were late for work that day, I just knew about the ones that didn't work at all that day)  , the delays on Saturday were because the Fridays delays had to be cleared and processed .

You appear to be making it up again.

The "half of the booths open" issue was resolved after 75 minutes, on Friday. So you are suggesting that caused two days of delays of up to seven hours each time?

The French state that they increased their border staff from 120 to 200.

The fact is that there are increased transaction times. To pretend that Brexit has nothing to do it with is disingenuous as best.

Fewer than half the French immigration booths were open on Friday morning , new immigration booths had been installed, but they weren't staffed yet .

The early morning delays caused problems for the rest of they day and also the next day

OK, you accused me of "making things up"

You made the above  up .

I am not "pretending" that Brexit has nothing to do with an increase in transaction and processing times , yes the checks take longer , I have never suggested otherwise .

My point is there should be enough French staff to deal with the transactions and the delays were caused by a lack of French immigration officers  .

If longer immigration checks are needed, then more immigration staff are needed

????

So a 75 minute delay on Friday caused seven hour wait on both Friday and Saturday is your contention. Nothing to do with the necessary increased checking caused by Brexit?
