Used Sriphat Medical Center in 2019 with Dr Thanet Chitapanarak. Price: 15,000B - 25,000B. Very professionally done and with anesthetic. Polyp removed at the same time and tested for cancer. It was negative. Will be going back to Sriphat again for my check-up this year.

Get recommendations for a doctor that some have used--do not worry about the building--CM Ram, Bkk Cm, Sriphat, McCormick all good buildings, but the buildings will not be doing the procedure.

Look on the hospital's websites for bio's of the drs--their experience, training, etc--and gather recommendations of others' experiences--if cost is a factor for you, then drs at Sriphat and McCormick will charge less, but likely will also be at other hospitals on different days of the week.

When I was at McCormick, they Quoted me from 20,000 to 25,000.

Either go with what Haljabra said, or call them yourself.  In 2019 it cost me 16,040 ฿.

Just got back from the CM Ram Health Check Up Center and there was a sign posted that stated:

1. Gastroscopy(AKA-Endoscopy)  17,000 Baht

2. Colonoscopy                               26,000 Baht

3. Combo (1 and 2) for                     36,000 Baht *This is what paid in 2021.

This includes the doctors fee, center fee and pathology.

Well, McCormick hospital doesn't seem too out of order with the cost. Although upon making an appointment today, They wanted me to take some other test first, X-ray's of chest to check lungs and heart. They said it was standard procedure but somehow I felt like they were padding the bin. Is this really standard? If anyone else has any idea I would like to know.

X-ray?  I've had a Colonoscopy in the US and two in Thailand, never needed an X-ray before the procedure.  In 2021 a hospital administered ATK test was the only thing required  a day before the procedure at Ram.

The cost is on websites.

Yes, I just found that and it says 15,000. Nothing close what they told me. To be honest I already had a CT scan there and then they recommended that I get a colonoscopy because CT scan wasn't conclusive. I'm doubting them more by minute.

Yes this all sounded suspect to me. Nothing was said before and then and now bring this up. Wanted me to do it right there today. I just didn't like the sound of it and said no, a test too see if I can do another test. It's all sounding a bit off to me.

Well I don't know your problem but  even a colonoscopy does not catch everything. I had the miniature  camera that flushes through your guts taking hundreds of photos..

Yes, I've heard it's not 100%. Also I wish I new myself what the problem is the only thing the CT scan confirmed was that there was inflammation in my stomach and lower intestine. Then mentioned some possibilities, one be hidden cancer. At any rate I'm getting tired of test with no answers.

Have a scope then! Go on an anti inflammatory diet etc. You'll get better when you stop worrying. Good luck

Very pleased with the 2 scopes at Ram over the years…has one doctor that does them…

one price for everything unless you need extra lab work

one thing not to do is stay overnight…it is strictly outpatient and after waking up, walk out of the recovery area on your own

They always do blood tests and chest X-ray to make sure you are up to all the sedatives and pain meds they give you during the procedure. They do that everywhere in the world.

Never had an x-ray or blood test prior to a colonoscopy or endoscopy either in Thailand or the USA.  Also, I have never had pain meds for these procedures so based upon my experience it is not “everywhere in the world”.

This sounds expensive to me. Just had one in Switzerland (not a cheap country) and it was 500 francs or roughly 18,000 baht

I had several in Switzerland (Zurich) and I believe they were around CHF 700.-- for combined colonoskopy and endoskopy as far as I remember. This included as well anesthesia with Propofol.

Disturbing here is that they charge a crazy amount (about twice that of the procedure itself) for anesthesia if you would like to have that. They give you some medicaments (dormicum ?) but it does not work as well as Propofol. This is especially astounding because Propofol may be administered even by a well trained nurse. This is so easy to manage that you do not need a special and therefore expensive anesthesist.

Then the laboratory comes on top. Especially because of the propofol I am looking now for an alternative to the otherwise good procedure in my standard hospital here in Pattaya.

I had about 5 in the USA. They required blood tests and chest x-ray every time. Same in most European countries.

You didn't have the Versed and Demerol drip when you had a colonoscopy? It is extremely painful when the camera goes around the turns of the colon!

Moved to health forum.  As this is not a routine screening test but rather being done because of symptoms and CT findings it is important to have it done by a good colorectal specialist.   Suggest either of these doctors https://sriphat.med.cmu.ac.th/find_doctor?lang=en&doctor_name=&spec_name=15&special_name=53

They can both also be see at Bangkok Hospital but will likely cost less at Sriphat.

Bring all your records with you including CD of the CT scan (not just the report) and any other test reports.

It is not usual to get a chest Xray before colonoscopy.

Your case is the first I ever heard of.  I know many people who have had colonoscopies  in the USA and none have ever mentioned the need for a chest x-ray or blood tests.  Yes I have not have the Versed and Demerol Drip and have never felt during or after the procedures.

Just an update on my experience with McCormick Hospital. I did get the Colonoscopy there and it went very well. I slept through the procedure with nothing to complain about. Then when it came time to pay the bin/bill, it came to 30,000.

It appeared that they really were padding the bin. With things like a covid 19 test and other misc things. I did contest this since it was more than double the amount for the procedure at 15,000 and got a compromise of 20,000 which seemed fair to me. I will be more cautious the with this place in the future.
