Speedo1968
Have used Kaspersky on my laptops for years. Still learning even the basics of an Android smart phone. Is it worth using Kaspersky with the phone ? How easy is it to install ? Any hints ? NB - I intend to use Kaspersky from CD even though it's more expensive. Thanks

Viruses for Windows work different then viruses for phones. You could try to execute a Windows virus on your phone and nothing would happen.

Not sure how you would get it from a CD to an Android phone anyway...
scubascuba3
Lot's of free antivirus mailware apps available. I couple of years ago i had a virus and it took me 10+ different apps to find it
Photoguy21
I have it on my mobile phone. I know there are people that say you dont need it as only computers are being attacked, that has some merit but is not completely correct. With more and more people using smart phones, the hackers are targeting them. Some say the apps are fine if you get them from the phones app store. Installing it is easy and for the last 2 years I have had no problem with it.

What a BS answer... you really think that mobile security providers didn't realise that? Scanners for phones are of course specialised for that purpose and therefore different from the PC product, no matter the brand. My subscription from McAfee provides versions for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, and so will Kapersky. @Speedo1968: can I ask, why you want to install from CD?

Sure, you can have one scanner brand for multiple OS. But what for? When was the last time your phone was infected by a virus? If you think you are so smart then maybe you shouldn't write a BS reply. DrPhibes
I have to say as a techie guy, Kaspersky was worth getting for my phone. I do quite a bit of banking/investing on it when I can't get to my computer. I always use the VPN feature when doing such. My belief is they are about as good as it gets for security. Using free antivirus in Thailand, my phone was hacked, phone number hijacked, used that to contact one of my banks and phone company which in the end allowed a Zelle transfer for the maximum amount. Was reimbursed, but the stress factor was pretty high for the relative low cost of such coverage now.

I was head IT Security for a Swiss financial institute and we had to follow hundreds of pages of security requirements for mobile app development in order to keep them secure and certified... and we did not do it for fun. Here are the Top Mobile Security threats according to Kapersky Lab (I could have taken any other provider): Data Leakage Unsecured Wi-Fi Network Spoofing Phishing Attacks Spyware Broken Cryptography Improper Session handling. And for you question: My phone was infected as many times as my Windows laptop: Never, because I follow the basic security precautions on all devices, mainly: using Malware detection on every device with regular scans no downloads and installations from untrusted sources using VPN for any interaction involving sensitive PII no clicking on links, unless from people I trust using secure passwords and where possible multi-factor authentication keeping my devices and apps up-to-date no jailbreaking or rooting of the mobile phone But hey, it's not my money or information that get stolen, if others are ignorant as you... Ah, so now you agree with me that installing anti malware solutions on the mobile phone - first point on my list - is a good thing, because it is common sense... glad I convince you ???? 1

I use bit defender. AVG offers a free suite for android. Currently Bit defender is less than 25 dollars for 5 devices. Considering express VPN for extra security. Maybe we should start a poll: How many people have anti virus software on their phones? And how many people ever had a virus on their phone? I bet the answers are: few and few. stupidfarang
Kaspersky is easy to install, I have it on my android phone, with so much done on mobiles (banking etc) it is better safe than sorry. I have Kaspersky installed on a number of devices, I purchased it for my business in the UK, one thing I would say it is worth searching for deals as to renew my Kaspersky plan they automatically sent a price of around £100 for 3 devices, I purchased it on line for £29 for 10 devices for two years

I know people who have installed dodgy applications and who are served up endless ads after clicking on something. People who are experienced in using mobile phone apps but don't even have an ad blocker on their Browser. So yes, some people need extra help. To suggest otherwise is a bit foolish. Seeing the questions posed here on a daily basis, you should understand that. You or I might understand how to protect ourselves to a certain extent, but many people will just click wherever they are asked.
