Why do you think 95% of Thai's still wearing a mask while riding a scooter

Seriously - I don't understand why they take pride in wearing a mask, especially whilst outside on a scooter with 0% chance of any transmission of COVID?

Covid is still about especially in Bkk and the only people that cop it and get covid in our village is stupid people coming from Bkk and not wearing a mask.

It's scientifically proven the chance of transmission of COVID is around 1% or less outside, If you outside on a scooter the chance of transmission would be extremely close to zero like 0.00000001% unless you have a passenger.

-Indoors, do Masks make a difference, probably not....... but better safe than sorry

Question for you? Did they wear helmets before Covid......but yes they did wear masks before when they rode, I was one of them, but I did wear my helmet.

Have you ever thought about wearing it because the air quality while riding a motorbike in traffic here is horrendous, or you just want to believe it is from Covid....try again my friend.....

  • Popular Post

I think they wear it,  just because if has become habit.

But, after wearing one on a motorbike due to the situation, I will continue to do so.  Bad air from belching buses and cars breathing in that garbage is not good to ingest.  Occasionally, the ingestion and bad smell of that exhaust smoke stench lasts the whole day.

Do you see any on them wearing masks in that photo??? Exactly I Count 0, Look at Pre Covid photos and near zero thais will be wearing masks in traffic.......

The Sole reason Thai's are wearing masks now is because of COVID propganda , NOT pollution so don't try and pull that one

GO to places like Ko Samui or Phuket where pollution and traffic is a lot "less" vs Bangkok and Thais wearing masks on scooters is still at 95%,

SO many people brainwashed on this site, and who actively back non scientific enforced regulations- its scary

Wearing a mask on a scooter in Bangkok is a good thing.

Cuts down on the amount of air pollution you have to swallow,

Your theory about exhaust fumes and pollution is incorrect, in rural thailand where i live i see them all this time on the quitest remotes roads.

I agree with OP, why??

I agree with that other bloke as well, they're sheep, they're taught to follow like sheep from a very early age.

No they didn't , you might have got a say 10 out of 100 people in Bangkok wearing masks, but its rare from looking at Photos. Less polluted areas in Thailand and it will be 1 or 2 people wearing masks while on scooter

Now after COVID its about 95-99/100 Thais wearing masks

I think it is to protect them from the harmful radiation of the sun on their lips and nose!  Melanoma can kill you know!

Actually I wear a mask walking many times here in Pattaya because of the noxious fumes from motorbikes and bus exhaust.

Why I wish all you young healthy people driving around on your scooters would learn to walk or take a songthaew

Dream a little dream my friend.  Asian countries have worn masks prior to covid because of bad air, a shutter stock photo from 2010, you better try again.  Not everyone did but many were and still will.....

I think if the front guy has covid and breathes into the air all the downstream behind  riders can catch covid, so it is everyone's interest on motorcycles to be wearing masks.

You guys are hilarious, comparing Thai people to sheep, what a bunch of whingers.  If that's so why have you come to live in Thailand.

When I get out of the city and I can breathe the air my mask goes away.  Have you ever observed the Moto Taxi Wins wearing the full face sock under the helmet, it is the same as wearing a mask.  Cuts down on the filth, well at least in BKK.  If these guys say no one in the country side is wearing them, well that I can believe.

I'll be generous, and simply assume it's for the pollution.  Many pre 'situation' worm masks outdoors & on scooters.

BIB directing traffic a long standing example of that.

Yes, good, I do think it is habit, and out of respect. I can just look at myself, I still always put on the mask when I go out (to respect others) and I even forget to take it off when I come home. I can sit down and watch TV and don't even know that I've forgotten to take it off until my daughter asks me - why do you have your mask on? 2 hours later

It's an observation, not a whinge, if they want to be sheep.......up to them.

The amount of people that wore masks before Covid and now is not comparible.

The point is it was worn before Covid and not near Zero as the poster stated and even tried to point out a picture to prove his point.  TR 1 - PJ71 0

Hard to remember pre-covid times for many as it has become a time many of us wish to forget but can not as it is still in your face everyday, and no I am not a covidiot, a denier, an anti-vaxxer, anti-masker. I am a believer, a vaxxed individual, and a person who takes his personal safety as tantamount importance.  People calling others names such as sheep etc...are just ,,,,,,,,,

I’m not so sure that motorcyclist wear mask to protect themselves from the traffic fumes, in pre-covid times there weren’t so many motorcyclists wearing masks.

..... I think people are still wearing masks because everyone else is still wearing masks - thats about it and it doesn’t need much more thought than that.

Wearing facemarks, vs not wearing a helmet is one which baffles me.
