NE1 Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 My friend died last night from an ongoing battle with cancer. He has had laser treatment etc. He is an Englishman who has lived near Ubon Ratchathani for 10 years and married to a Thai lady. She plans on cremation Monday but as of yet she has no death certificate , and she has just telephoned and asked what the procedure is for informing Embassy , Police etc. She has spoke to her husbands daughter in England who has been aware of her fathers battle , and only requires a Death Certificate for personal reasons. Can anybody enlighten me as to what I can tell her.

If he died at home, not in a hospital, she should not just have him cremated without informing the authorities. If he died in a hospital, or he was moved to one, the hospital will provide the death certificate. 3

Cremating the body without informing the authorities or with no death certificate is going to create problems for her. 2
Delight Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 (edited) My British friend died about 1 year ago. He died in a Pattaya Gov. Hospital As Pattaya has no provision to store the deceased-it was shipped to Bangkok. The body and the passport. I advised his UK based family. The British Embassy gave the case a number. With that in place all relevant actions were available British Embassy needs to be contacted Edited August 21, 2022 by Delight spelling
