MOSCOW (AP) — The daughter of an influential Russian political theorist who is often referred to as “Putin’s brain” was killed in a car bombing on the outskirts of Moscow, officials said Sunday.

The Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee said preliminary information indicated a bomb planted in the SUV driven by Daria Dugina, 29, exploded Saturday night and killed the TV commentator who was the daughter of Alexander Dugin, a nationalist philosopher and writer.

Dugin is a prominent proponent of the “Russian world” concept, a spiritual and political ideology that emphasizes traditional values, restoration of Russia’s power and the unity of all ethnic Russians throughout the world.

Sounds like a real sweetie:

Quote

Dugina herself was sanctioned by the United States in March for her work as chief editor of United World International, a website that the U.S. described as a disinformation source. The sanctions announcement cited a United World article this year that contended Ukraine would “perish” if it were admitted to NATO.

Impressive as to where it happened.

Plausible deniability abounds for all the usual suspects in this targeted killing that seemingly went wrong.

cui bono and who does it most often?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-08-21/russia-probes-car-bomb-that-killed-daughter-of-putin-ideologist

interesting snippets:

"the vehicle belonged to Dugin, who had intended to travel home with his daughter from an event but “went in a different way.”  "

"If evidence emerged to show Ukraine was behind a plot to kill Dugina, “then we should talk about the policy of state terrorism implemented by the Kyiv regime,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. "

"the murder of Dugina may lead to further radicalization of Russian society, she said. "

Other things with interesting timing :

* Ukraine's national holiday, the Independance Day, is 24th August.

* The personnel of Zaporizhzhia NPP is still on Ruzzian-ordered leave (https://gur.gov.ua/content/na-zaes-prodovzhyly-vykhidni-dlia-ukrainskoho-personalu.html /Ukrainian)

* Zelenskiy warned that Ruzzia might do something "especially nasty" to Ukraine around the date of Ukrainian Independance Day celebrations.

it seems (speculation on my part) the car bomb was set to detonate when a certain speed would be reached by the car, as it exploded just after Dugina entered the highway. it would be interesting to know which groups are familiar with using that kind of device.

as for the reasons for the assassination, we can do some "what if" thinking. what if Dugin had decided to call for the war to end and prepared to publicly come out with this message ?

Putin's brain?  The one who told Putin his Army can roll into Ukraine and take over the entire country in a week? And that the West would do absolutely nothing? And the invasion would protect Russia from new NATO countries on Russian borders?  Both Brain and Putin are idiots, brain-dead idiots, rather than great political strategists.  PS. It was the CIA, not Ukraine who planted the car bomb.

Who knows the reality behind the murder and it's intended target. Likely will never know the truth, but an excellent excuse for Putin to esculate the killing and destruction in the Ukraine.
