  • 555 no actually most do come for bars & girls BUT...I agree opening till 4am is a recipe for even more road deaths Folks can get plenty drunk enough by 12 or 1 am

Yes there are Tourists who do come to Thailand for the Temples

And beaches ⛱

Then there are others who come for the young girls in the bars and drinking alcohol and having a good time ????

I also agree 2am closing of the bars is a good thing as some people need their beauty ????

Yeah. Right. 555!

Yeah right

Never rely on a dinosaur for information about tourism habits! Wonder when was the last time he was at a club? Not exactly what one would refer to as an authority. Maybe he should stick to medicine.

I doubt if the 4am closing time would have much effect on tourism. No doubt desperation is setting in, as they have fully reopened, and the numbers are far lower than expected. This is more about being too late to the game, not having used the time during the shutdown to make any improvements, never addressing any pre-covid issues, and the refusal to make any sacrifices. The TCKU (Thailand is the center of the known universe) consciousness continues. Nothing has been learned by the Dino crew. They don't seem capable of progress.

Maybe he should pull his head out of his Gary Glitter and go get laid.

I love a laugh in the mornings.

Be honest, these days I visit a temple more than a bar, but then again I visit maybe 1 temple a year. Bars were great 20 years ago when I was single and before my wife, I feel going to a bar without being able to take a women home with you, is like going to see a movie without the film after the national anthem

Oh dear....you really must try and socialize more.

Then they should remove dual pricing on these attractions and increase the opening hours of temples, as most shut around 6PM leaving nothing to do in the evening.

Also have sunbeds out on the beach every day on Koh Larn, rather than remove them for cleaning.

It seems that these "prominent Thai doctors" should themselves seek help for their delusional tendencies if they think most people come for the temples.

They come for many reasons. The culture is just one element. Many barely visit a temple. Many just don't find them interesting. What other aspects of the culture? Puppet shows? Muay Thai?

More like street food, bars, restaurants, malls, and the people. And yes, the beaches.

Yes it should be 4am closing. There are a lot of people younger people who do like to have night life while on holidays. There is a lot of old people on here that don’t like nightlife as they are old and married and a lot are retired but give the ‘living’ people some fun in holidays . . and they will do both. . enjoy temples and sightseeing and able to mix and and meet at bars and clubs as young people love to have fun . .

Open to 4am is nothing unusual here in Australia and a lot of western countries already !

No evidence that later hours cause more traffic accidents .But pushing drunk people all on the street at the same tim is a problem.Let them open 24 hours and  and allow loxals to make money .Then enforce the drunk driving laws..Hiw many tourists drive anyway ?

Stating open until 4 is not going to help that many bars. People will just go out drinking later

It is going to have an affect on the bar staff imagine starting at 4 and doing a 12 hour shift for the same money.

Entertainment zones should have police at the ends of the zone doing DUI rad checks starting at midnight.

Cops will make a <deleted> load of money as will taxis

Yes, the temples in my area are full of very hungry dogs. I am sure the tourist would like to visit them.

Some of the Thai clubs already stay open past 2am, at least they did precovid.

Totally out of touch.

In reality that is when they stir isn't it.....hear a deep 'bong' now and again.

... and the culture. Don't forget the culture.

I couldn't agree more doctors.

I'm certain thairomances or thaifriendly would get more traffic and searches than FindMeATemple

Not often I  really DO  "laugh out loud" on ASEAN....

Same here

Who need to be up to 4 am to get drunk? I can get drunk before 10 pm every night, or even before that.

It's just silly to label everyone the same.

While there may be some valid reasons not to open until 4am saying that people don't come to go to bars is not one of them.

Okay then, close the bars etc. at 7 pm and keep the temples open for visitors until 4 am and see what happens.????

When I first started coming to Thailand the bars were open 24 hours! At 9am when Marine Disco was closing it was off to the disco's that were just opening! If I remember right things were much more relaxed, people were not drinking fast to get as many drinks as possible before the bars closed their doors and kicked you out. I also believe there were a lot less road deaths then.
