Thailand – Prominent Thai doctors have warned about the proposal of a 4:00 A.M. closing time extension for nightlife venues in tourist zones which will cause more road deaths, crime, and personal accidents as there is more time to drink alcohol, according to them.

Doctor Taejing Siripanich, a secretary of the Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation has given his view about the plan, “The 4:00 A.M. extension plan cannot definitely guarantee about boosting the economy. On the other hand, this might have to be an exchange with health and people’s safety.”

“I believe that foreign tourists come to Thailand not because of nightclubs, drinking, and partying. Most of them want to come here because of natural and cultural tourism places like beaches, parks, traditional Thai culture, and temples.

How black & white this statement is... as many people come they do that for all sorts of reasons. When I was young and single I came for nightlife and women.... but after being married and having my kids, we came for the beaches and the temples. Nowadays I live in Thailand, married to a Thai wife and enjoy just being here. We visit temples, beaches and the nightlife? I couldn't care less.

When you've seen one wat, you've seen  'em all.

I come for the weather and the smiles.

If you've seen one temple you've seen them all. If touring, a sensible tourist would visit the most notable and relatively accessible wat then assume that any temple after that would be an anti climax. Itinerary schedule solved.

Could have fooled me......... now there HAS to be some lucky numbers somewhere in that statement

Folks can get plenty drunk enough by lunchtime maybe they should have no nightclubs at all.

Be honest, these days I visit a temple more than a bar, but then again I visit maybe 1 temple a year. Bars were great 20 years ago when I was single and before my wife, I feel going to a bar without being able to take a women home with you, is like going to see a movie without the film after the national anthem

I know dozens of them worship at the four face Buddha at the junction of Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok… they also go to the royal temple…

More Asian tourist do this but the younger Caucasian tourist will party…

so who do Thailand want to attract n which tourist type are coming ?
