The Thai Economy continued to recover in July but at a slower pace because of the slowdown in domestic consumption from a higher cost of living coupled with drops in private investment, exports and public spending when compared to the previous month, the Bank of Thailand (BoT) said.

However, the service sector continued to improve from increases in foreign tourists, manufacturing production also improved from more supply.

“Indicators of private consumption and private investment declined slightly after accelerating in the preceding periods while higher living costs are also adding pressure on consumption while exports also declined in line with lower trading partners’ demand,” said Chayawadee Chai-Anant, senior director of the economic and policy department at the BoT.
