"driver blames wet road and says wasn’t his fault"   If the reporting is true, block this idiot from ever driving again. I just paid my insurance premiums some of which go to numbskulls like

  • SAFETY FIRST
    SAFETY FIRST

I refuse to drive on the dangerous wet roads.    The authorities should dispatch special vehicles to dry our roads. Actually, better still, they should have all roads covered by awnings

  • Yes, wet roads are such a rare occurrence in Thailand that this driver couldn't possibly be prepared for the humongous risk od driving and not having super-human driving skills needed. Wet roads!  ...

But of course! Damned rain! No, I was not speeding. Bad luck, I guess.

Thai logic says of course it is the driver’s fault! If he had not been driving that day  , he would not have been in the accident.

what would they be like IF HAD to drive in 6 inch of snow........or black ice........on black ice in manual car......I always went into first gear........

Of course it was the wet road! And not at all the 75 miles an hour he was driving at on that wet road. When the road is wet, you adjust your speed accordingly. But that is apparently too hard to comprehend for many drivers here.

if the report is true how about the 'journalist' pointing out how ridiculous the driver's claim is...

Come on. He couldn't say he was distracted when his girlfriend laid her head on his lap to take a nap. What would he tell his wife?

If it were a hot, dry day it would have been the heat of the asphalt, everybody knows your tires stick to the road when too hot.

Oh, you're asking why no other cars had this problem?  uuummmmm.......

Well it wasn't so a bit redundant really.

He, possibly, did not have insurance. Even if he did, would the Insurance still pay out if he says it was 'the wet road' which caused it?

I sideswiped a cement pole in Surin many years ago.

Budget rent a car. 5,000 baht deductible.....Gimme a new truck.

Told them I swerved to miss a cow in the road....had to draw a diagram of how it happened.

Hemingway would have been proud of that yarn I spun.

It is ALWAYS someone/something else's fault; the driver will NEVER take responsibility for his OWN actions in traffic (or life).
ALWAYS blame:
- wet road
- rain
- brakes
- other people
- telephone
- falling asleep

- anything you want as long it is not driver self!

Drive/Ride safely and be watchful of the idiots (they are everywhere!)

Look up & look down too. I had friend step into a storm drain during a torrential downpour. I had to help him out, as he was about to be deposited somewhere in the Bight of Bangkok.

if the moron driver was not speeding and tread on his  tires he would not leave the road  !!!!

ohhh! but yes he would ......he not drive to the conditions!!!!

I fell off my bed and blame something "wet" next to me.

Did they find any cans and bottles of beer in the cab? Or is that reserved for foreigners when reporting accident's?

And you can bet  the police   agree with him
