webfact Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 By Thai Enquirer NT State Enterprise Union group came out to petition their displeasure with the recent study conducted by the research arm of Chulalongkorn University – Chula Unisearch as it failed to mention many of the issues that pertain to the mega merger deal between Thailand’s 2nd largest mobile phone operator – True Corporation Plc (TRUE) and 3rd largest operator – Total Access Communications Plc (DTAC). The union’s representatives travelled to hand in their petition of disapproval of the study and Prof Dr Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Social Outreach at Chulalongkorn University, was delegated to receive the document. The petitioning follows on from news in which appeared that the National Broadcasting & Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) had hired Chula Unisearch to perform a study and analysis of the business merger between TRUE and DTAC. The NBTC has reportedly paid 10 million Baht for this service. mikebell Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 The decision's been made; bought and paid for. Forming a committee is just the Thai way of passing time.
bradiston Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 You'd think this study would have been done months, if not years, before the merger was announced as more or less a done deal many months ago. This is just a clean up exercise for the scandalous lack of oversight.
