Charter Court to hold special meeting Thursday to consider Prayut’s 8-year term

Thailand’s Constitutional Court has scheduled a special meeting of the judges this Thursday, to discuss suspended Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s eight-year term in the office.

 

A well-informed source close to the court said that president of the court, Worawit Kangsasitiam, had notified all the judges of the meeting, called to consider the written explanations about the case received from Prayut, former chairman of the constitution drafting committee Meechai Ruchupan and Pakorn Nilprapunt, secretary of the committee.

 

The source said that the judges will assess whether the written statements are sufficient to enable the charter court rule on Prayut’s term in office or whether more evidence or witness accounts would be required.

In agreement, seems like they wish to rush to Judgment so that Prayut can Chair the APEC event coming up. Isn't this how the 2014 event began by the Yingluck administrations attempt at pushing through an Amnesty bill, and then the protests started....standby for a mess like in 2010, and 2014 if this goes Prayuts way...

But in 2014 it was a (I promise that there will be no coup) military coup led by Prayuth and the army, against an elected civil caretaker government preparing for an election.

 

This time, will it be another military coup led by general X to support Prayuth staying in power?

Election or no election just a waste of time the result is already in plus even if it isn't those who come to power you got the same old same old from the swamp.  

Anything with the new and improve Governor of Bangkok,  anything new and improve in Pattaya with the new Mayor?????

What exactly is there to discuss/consider? Maybe why was he still PM after the allotted term had expired ????????

What they said was two weeks to allow Prayut to respond. He did faster than expected. Then they were allowing 2 weeks to decide on the issues. 
Since Prayut responded promptly, the second two weeks can start early.

What is there to consider ? Whether being the leader of a military coup counts as being PM or not. My guess is the answer will be no, and that his time as PM started after the election. I don’t think they will announce that yet though, for appearances sake they will consider the new evidence for a while.

 I will make no comment or speculation on the size of the envelope containing the new “evidence”

You guys actually arguing points of law?  You think it will matter?

The truth is simple:  Prayut is untouchable unless the generals in the background say it is OK.  It is obvious how the judges will rule.
