There were dramatic scenes caught on tape as a serious fire ripped through a large warehouse in the Ratburana area of Bangkok yesterday.

Bang Khor Laem police were initially informed of the fire at a storage facility for products sold online around 9.30 pm, reported Thai Rath.

It happened near Ratburana Soi 15, at a warehouse on five rai of land. A TV report by the same organisation said the warehouse stored products from China.

As firemen battled the blaze a roof shifted causing the collapse of a rear wall that injured seven firemen who required hospital treatment.

The blaze was mostly brought under control after two hours.

Bang Khor Laem police chuief Pol Col Suphat Suphakamnert said that items such as face masks and rolls of fabric provided ideal fuel for the fire that was probably started by sparks from a short circuit.

No official assessment of the damage has yet been made. That and further investigations are due today.

Yet another electrical fault fire. At least the goods destroyed were useless as they came from China.

To avoid potential friction it might be better to describe the goods as 'being shipped from our artisans in far Cathay.'.....????

I once asked a Chinese colleague in my diplomatic way why so many goods from his country were next to useless, poor quality etc. He was surprised and said that he found no such problems with goods bought at home. I'd guess that Thailand just imports the cheap bottom of the barrel stuff to match the normal standards in Thailand. Why spend money on quality when cheap rubbish will do - until it breaks, anyway.

Yes, if a buyer holds them contractually to a high standard they can meet it.
