Thai national flag flown at half-mast at Government House

The Thai national flag at Government House is lowered to half-mast today (Friday), as Thailand expresses condolence for the passing of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said this morning that the flag is usually flown at half-mast for three days, to mourn the passing of the head of state of another country, and a member of the Thai Royal Family will attend the funeral.

 

He said that a government representative will be sent to sign the book of condolence at the British Embassy in Bangkok.

Yes indeed. Up until very recently the previous Thai king was the longest reigning monarch in living memory at 70 years and 126 days.

The Queen reigned for 70 years and 214 days, the Thai people had a great deal of respect for both monarchs.
