Home Solar System

Featured Replies

Very interested to hear of any Chiang Mai residents experiences with solar installations

ie,,,, which company they used, are they happy with the results, and did / does the system they were sold do what it is meant to do..

also battery storage system experiences as the house we are building has limited access to power

Thanks.

This might do better in the Alternative Energy forum.

If you don't get any responses here PM me and I'll move the thread for you ????

EDIT Moving to Alt Energy

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

@Bandersnatch has a system which would match your requirements.

You will need to do some sort of energy use estimate to get an idea of how big a system you will need.

Have a look here:-

Not CM, but think I'm the lone guy, one of, that had it installed, vs DIY.

Very happy with the results, and highly recommend you go forward with an install or DIY, if possible.  The 'independence' from the grid is liberating ... ????

We're going to add another 10kWh ESS, but that's the only change/upgrade.  Hindsight, regret not putting 2 panels on East roof, and just went with 2 strings of 9 panels (S&W), instead of 3 of 6 panels.   Due to E roof probably wouldn't have supported 6 very well.  Two on a 30° pitch would catch the 2 full hr during sunrise that we miss, and then some afterward.

Recharge the ESSs right away, instead waiting for the extra, over our use, that we're getting now at ~0730 hrs.   0730-0800 hrs, and ESS starts charging, though that is overcast skies.  Expect the to be a bit earlier once done with rainy season.

Not a big deal, as the additional ESS will compensate for that.  You can never have too much storage ????

Initial cost for us was ฿345k, and additional ESS is ฿100k, so ฿445k total installed.

As the thread states, a local Hua Hin installer.

Our builder will hand over our non-air conditioned, closet-less, kitchen-less house in about a week.  We're having a 10Kw hybrid system installed shortly after that by Eyekandisolar .  The same local farang owned company is also doing the A/C.  This company was recommended to me by Christian Grimshei, the owner of Chaweewan Solar who does solar installations in NE Thailand.  Christian is also the admin for a Facebook group, Chaweewan Group solar (English), where he provides a lot of educational material about solar projects.

So far Eyekandi's work has always been on schedule and well done.  They cut in all the A/C drains and ran the coolant pipes in the ceiling to the condensers.  We don't have any A/C piping visible in the house.  He co-ordinated with our builder to install the in ceiling solar wiring before the ceiling installation was finished. He's somewhat more expensive than the other quote I got but the work is first class so far.

I'll give an update after a couple of weeks experience with the solar system.
