Daily News Thai Caption: Collapse from subsidence

 

A video showed the first moment a wall behind a well known coffee shop at a Nakhon Nayok gas station came crashing down.

 

The aftermath was extensive damage behind the store and to other properties adjacent. It happened in Sri Nawa sub-district of the central Thailand province. 

 

Non Thaweechai, 25, said he had a lucky escape. He was with his child in a room out the back and heard a crashing sound. 

 

 

He got his child to safety before seeing the wall come crashing down.

 

He said there had been heavy rain but he blamed a backhoe and pipe laying in the soi behind for causing subsidence.

 

The owners and the gas station are calling on those responsible to step forward, reported Daily News.

I'd say the contractor who built the retaining wall has a bit to answer for.

Honestly, the mentality of Thai builders here is shocking. What sort of twit builds on 4ft of sand ? Few rain storms and of course it will collapse
