By Thai Newsroom Reporters

CARETAKER PRIME Minister-cum-Palang Pracharath Party leader Prawit Wongsuwan and Thai Economic Party leader Thammanat Prompao might possibly be kept out of politics for a number of years and the biggest coalition party might possibly as well be dissolved if found guilty of alleged involvement in last year’s handing out of kickbacks in cash to MPs of six splinter parties.

Thai Liberal party leader Seripisut Temiyavej confirmed today (Sept. 13) Prawit as top leader of Palang Pracharath Party and Thammanat as former secretary-general of the largest coalition partner might possibly be punished by being legally banned from the political arena if found guilty of involvement in the alleged allocation of “bananas”, figuratively referring to hard cash, to those splinter-party MPs in exchange for their votes of support for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and other cabinet members during last year’s censure/no-confidence motion.

The “bananas” were allegedly handed out at the Pa Roi Tor Foundation office located in the premises of the First Infantry Regiment which also houses the residence of the caretaker premier-cum-top leader of the Palang Pracharath Party.

Nobody knows the true extent of the corruption and rot. But, it is likely massive, systemic and beyond belief. It is all about the money. That is all these guys worship. It is their golden calf.

  • These clowns are a law unto themselves. I think we can safely say that "might possibly be" can be read as "will not be" ! This is military ruled Thailand !

Monkey gets suspended from duty.

Sandy and Pigsy still remain, but  tripitaka will be rebranded as tacky tripper.

Whatever can be done to get rid of this spactacularly toxic party the better. And if it is done in such a way as to humiliate and disgrace Prawit and Prayuth even better. They richly deserve that, after nearly destroying their own county, through sheer greed, power mongering and ignorance. It would be even better if they could be brought to trial and imprisoned. Though, that is likely just a fantasy.

The regressive dinosaurs need to go. And let us hope and pray there are younger, more forward thinking, more capable, and less selfish people to take their place.

Good analogy Bananas, Why you ask? because all bananas are bent, just like those politicians and many others who suppose to lead this country out of the Covid set back to prosperity again...

Just a reminder to check the level of your septic tank by the look of it ????

It will never happen; these guys control everything.  There's a move to resurrect the watch scandal but that is a fight already lost to the powers of darkness.

Should also include all the ones who took the bribe

But are they rich enough to afford the positions?

If there are then the courts will find a reason to ban them, as has happened before. As you say, the corruption is massive, systemic and beyond belief. Thailand might have a few tall shiny glass buildings, but it's still a banana - that word again - republic at heart and likely will be for many years to come.

Why isn't this news reported in Bangkok Post????

I hope it is posted in Thai somewhere for the Thai's to read.

With Prayut "supervising" (ie., as Chairman) of the RTP and DSI as per his own appointment while serving as PM, it leaves the NACC to conduct the investigation. The NACC President Is a 2017political appointment. Good luck with that.

I has been all over the news, dailies, everywhere for decades. This country has been run in succession by crooks, thieves, looters and clowns.

This is Thailand and it belongs to Thais, if they cant get a grip on this supermarket operation without cashiers at the exit, then so be it. After all, they cannot blame it on anyone else and they all feel the impact for generations already.

But, as the saying goes, the bottle neck is always on top of the bottle ..... go figure. Having a convicted drug smuggler, whose overseas conviction and time served in an Aussie slammer does not count, as it did not happen in Thailand ...... I rest my case ????

I don't pay attention to politics. I have a business to run and people to pay.

It would be a excellent move for the benefit of the country, but unfortunetaly it will never happen.....Money will speak again

This is not just a Thai problem it is an international problem.

A political party subsidizing a candidate for political party that they think will be easier to beat sounds like Thailand .  Would have never thought of it in other countries but it is happening.

How do these people that live in government jobs become some of the richest people around.  It is not through their government pay.

Deals are made across the aisles all the time the only difference here is that someone did not get enough bananas and started to cry.

Incredible that some dupes actually believed that this mob would be less corrupt than a democratically elected administration.

One word sums it all up... IF

Everyone is out to get the other guy.

Usual Thai politics.

What about those "MPs of six splinter parties"?  And what about Prayut, who apparently was the beneficiary of the whole scheme?

Thailand really needed Thanathorn to have become Prime Minister. He would have been the best for Thailands future.

If Prayut ever had real control , as opposed to just being a figurehead, that time has passed.
